One acquired via trade and one by free agency. March 11, 2005: The Jets signed unrestricted free agent QB Jay Fiedler, a graduate of Dartmouth. Fiedler got into two games as a Jet in the 2005 season. He went 6 for 10 in mop up duty in week 1 of the 05 season against the Chiefs and then went 2 of 3 in week 3 against Jacksonville in relief of the injured Chad Pennington before suffering a season ending shoulder injury himself in the game where we lost our top 2 QBs about 15 minutes aprat and the season was over before it began. Jay Fiedler is still the only NFL player to have graduated from my High School -- a quick shout out for the Oceanside Sailors. He is also quite likely the only NFL player to be Bar Mitvah'd by my Rabbi, but I digress. And then, on March 11 of last year, the Jets acquired their starting QB for the 2015 season in a trade with the Houston Texans, bringing in journeyman, and Harvard grad, Ryan Fitzpatrick. We all know the story, brought in to compete, gets teh job thanks to the punch, turns in a solid season, but melts down with everything on the line in Buffalo. Will he be back for 2017? I guess we will just have to see how this plays out.
