If there was any doubt Macc is gunning for a QB... The only question is can he pull it off with us sitting at 20. Good question. Body of evidence is small thus far. Couple things I'd lean on; -we didn't bite on offers for Williams/#6 last year that Macc felt were less than he wanted. -he's now traded for 2 opportunistic players to address a need -Fitz is still hanging in the wind. Management obviously didn't feel pressured to do something about the vacancy... It's April and we haven't signed anyone What does that all point to?

There are numerous reports out there that the Fitz deal is all but done, just waiting to clear cap space.
BTW, I agree with you that we are targeting a QB as we were more than likely last year as well. I'm at the stage where I don't want any more middling mid round projects, I want one of the top 3 or I don't want any at all. Can he get that done? I don't know but I think he wants one of these top prospects also.

I'm pretty steadfast in my belief that Mo will be used to obtain a young QB in the draft.
Either a straight up trade with a team like Oakland or Chicago to make sure they get Lynch, or coupled with the 20th overall pick to move up into the Top 6 for Wentz/Goff.

What if they don't get a 1st for Mo? He is going to cost his new team a fortune in one of the deepest Dlineman drafts in recent memory, two huge factors not in our favor.

I would agree for the most part, but then again, I thought there was no way in hell that we would get a Top 15 pick for Revis after the ACL tear coupled with wanting a monster contract, and we actually ended up getting more than that. Even if we just wind up with an early 2nd rounder for Mo, I'd still be totally in favor of packaging that pick along with #20 to at least leap frog the Rams at #15 and assumedly wind up with Lynch. Both Macc and Bowles have been associated with teams that were set up for major success, but QB play was the major undoing. I doubt they want to make that mistake now that they're the head guys in charge, especially with their hometown team. IMO, all signs point towards the Jets making a move for one of the Top 3 QB's. No doubt in my mind that they want to groom a young QB with major upside to be the heir apparent that drives them into the future. And IMO, now is the precise time to do it.

I hope it works out in that manner but I'm always skeptical. What if there is a run on the QB's which I could easily see via trades and we have to get in the top 10 to get one? I could see that scenario panning out and I think Wentz will easily go #1 overall. I agree with what you posted, I'm just not sure if we'll have the ammo to get that high and I don't want any second tier guys. If guys like Ponder and Locker went in the first round anything is possible when it comes to the position.

Got my heart set on a QB now. Mac knows he's gotta go get his guy eventually.

The 2 wild cards in this chase for a QB are San Francisco (which will be contingent on whether Kaepernick gets traded or not) and the Eagles (who despite signing Bradford and Chase Daniel, have been heavily scouting the top 3 QBs). If both SF and Philly pass on QB, the Jets may have Goff or Lynch drop into the team's lap (depending upon what LA does).

The question really comes down to our willingness to be patient and see if one of these guys drops or do we be aggressive and go get our guy earlier, if possible.. Especially if 2 QBs go in the top 5. Does Macc try to pull the trigger on a move to get ahead of SF, which would cost a lot. Guess it all depends on how much we like that QB that is still available. If we get through the top 5 with only Cleveland taking a QB, we will be in much better shape.

It's going to be a stretch to get one of the top 3 at 20...unless everything we're reading is all a smokescreen. I wouldn't be surprised if Cleveland, SD, Dallas, SF, Philly or the Rams all consider taking a QB....some, obviously more then others. (SD and Dallas would be more for the long term Aaron Rodgers approach, but it still wouldn't surprise me).
