He's an accurate kicker but doesn't sound like he can kick the ball deep on kickoffs. He has never averaged more than 59.9 yards per kickoff and has a low hang time of 3.72. Just to to put that in perspective, I never thought Folk kicked the ball deep enough and he averaged 66 yards per kickoff. |

After digging a bit deeper into these guys I'm intrigued By Kyle Friend. Obviously a position of need, 3 year captain, and first team All-ACC. Not bad for an UDFA.

Never heard of him before it was announced we signed him. But I like what the scouting reports say. Basically sounds like a more athletic Mike Matthews who I was a fan of. Tough, gritty team leader who may not have the stature and core strength that a lot of coaches desire but is a very good technician. |

The two things that kept him from being drafted is his height and really short arms. Two things that are less of a concern for a center but truth be told I liked a guy Jack Allen much better. Allen who has similar size issues kicked ass at the SB although in Friends defense, he wasn't given that opportunity. |

Haven't the Jets brought in like 3 different kickers? And wouldn't we stand to save a fair amount of coin by cutting Folk? Not saying it will happen, but the guy is coming off a season ending injury. And I've honestly never thought he's as good as a lot of the fanbase makes him out to be. He's essentially slightly above the league norm. He doesn't have a big leg and his accuracy is as you said above average but he is clutch as clutch can be. But maybe they don't think he'll make it back from the injury. |
