With his first draft as Jets GM in the books, GM Mike Maccagnan decided it was time to bring in his own scouting team. On this day last year, 5/4/15. Macc fired 6 members of the Jets scouting staff:
Brendan Prophett, Director of Pro Personnel Rick Courtright, National College Scout Chris Prescott College Scout Cole Hufnagel College Scout David Hinson College Scout Seth Turner College Scout
5 of the 6 men had been brought in by Macc's predecessor John Idzik (Hufnagel was the lone exception)
"I appreciate their contributions to the organization and wish them the best in the future,” Maccagnan said in a statement.

this could be the most important move maccagnan has made since becoming gm. obviously we shall see how the jet draft picks and udfa's pan out over the next few seasons but the group that was under tanny and idzik didn't do very well. and how many 2nd round picks (ducasse, hill, etc.) were just thrown away over the years. if half of those picks panned out the jets would have a pretty group of core players.

We haven't hit on a 2nd round pick since David Harris in 2007. Over the past 12 years, you could make an argument that Mike Nugent in 2005 is one of the better 2nd round players we have picked. If we hit on our 2nd rounder this year, it will be huge.

I did not realize Idzik had brought in his own scouts. I thought there were holdovers from the Bradway dynasty. With the Jalen Saunders etc nonsense, seems his scouts were even worse. Great move by Mac, hope this works out better
