Dierking played his college ball at Purdue and was selected by the Jets with the 90th overall pick (3rd round) of the 1977 NFL draft. He played 8 seasons in the NFL, 7 with the Jets. He gained 2,901 yards on 731 carries in his Jets career. Scott's biggest moment as a Jet came in the 1982 Divisional Playoff game against the Raiders. He played sparingly in that game, carrying twice for 4 yards, but it was his 1 yard TD run in the 4th quarter that gave the Jets a 17-14 lead with less than 4 minutes left -- a lead that they would not relinquish.
