May 27, 1988May is a tough month for "This Day in History" entries. Today it was either an OTA update on Vernon Gholston or the re-signing of Kurt Sohn. Decided to go with Sohn, whom the Jets re-signed to a one-year deal on this date, May 27, in 1988. At the time, Sohn had been a 7-year NFL veteran, playing all 7 seasons at WR & KR/PR for the NY Jets. 1988 would prove to be his final NFL season. He ended his career with 79 receptions for 1,018 yards and 10 TDs. Kurt Huntington High School in the 1970s and then played college ball at both Nassau Community College and Fordham. In 2012, he was elected to the Nassau Community College Sports Hall of Fame.

gotta like the home gowth talent stories. sohn was a decent player for the jets. kind of overshadowed by toon and walker. he probably could've been a chrebet type of player if they ran that type of system.

Sohn was a good, though under-used, player. He could have had a very productive career if he hadn't been stuck behind Walker and Toon for the majority of his time as a Jet.
