May 28, 2015
On this date last year, May 28, 2015, the Jets waived 3rd string QB, Matt Simms. Simms fate likely was sealed on the 3rd day of the draft when the Jets traded up in the 4th round to select Baylor QB Bryce Petty. The Jets signed Matt as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee in May, 2012. Simms got into 4 games with the Jets, completing 19 of 39 passes for 195 yards, with 1 TD and 1 interception. The Jets were winless in his 4 appearances, although to be fair, a couple of those appearances were mop up duty in blow outs when the outcome was already decided.
Simms would be signed on waivers by the Buffalo Bills. He was released in September, after this classic bonehead play for Buffalo in the preseason:
He spent the 2015 season on the Falcons practice squad, and is currently under contract in Atlanta on a Future contract.

The dream quarterback to so many. Always found it laughable.

The dream quarterback to so many. Always found it laughable. Like Petty, and now Hackenburg?
