May 29, 2015Two months earlier, the Jets acquired WR Brandon Marshall from the Chicago Bears. On this date last year, May 29, 2015, the Jets agreed to restructure his contract increasing his salary. Under his original contract that the Jets inherited in the trade, Marshall was due to receive $7.7 million in 2015 & $8.1 in 2016. The re-worked contract was worth $9 million in 2015 and $9.5 million in 2016. Only the 2015 salary was guaranteed at the time, although his 2016 salary became guaranteed in March of this year. It was reported at the time that the salary increase had been negotiated with the Jets at the time of the trade, but could not become final until one year after he had signed his prior contract with Chicago (in May of 2014). Marshall wound up earning every penny, as he set team records with 109 receptions and 1,502 yards. He also tied the team record for receiving TDs with 14 (Don Maynard and Art Powell). Can't wait to see what he does for an encore this season -- regardless of who may be throwing to him.

can't say enough about marshall. he's been way better than expected on and off the field. he's to hoping he will be playing at a high level for at least 3 more seasons.
