June 1, 1996The Jets signed undrafted free agent DE Bobby Hamilton of Southern Mississippi. Hamilton had a shot a couple of years earlier as a UDFA with Seattle, but could not stick on their roster. On this date, June 1, in 1996, the Jets gave him his second opportunity to make it in the NFL and he made the most of that opportunity. Hamilton went on to start 104 games playing for 4 different teams in a 12 year NFL career. He played 5 seasons with the Jets, from 96 - 99 and then rejoining the team for one more season in 2006. He also played with the Patriots, Raiders and Browns.
