...score points in franchise history. Titans re-signed him on this day, June 23, 1962. It was his second stint with the team. Shockley was a member of the Titans inaugural team for the 1960 season. He wore a lot of different hats in that first season: back-up RB, kick returner, punt returner and placekicker. On Sept 11, 1960, with the Titans trailing the Bills 3-0, it was in his role as placekicker that Shockley scored the first points in franchise history, a 15-yard field goal to even the game at 3. The first man to score a TD for the franchise was QB Al Dorow with a 2-yard run later in the quarter as the Titans went on to defeat Buffalo 27-3. Shockley would be waived by the Titans mid-way through the 1961 season. He signed with Buffalo to finish that season. He was released again in the offseason and re-signed by the Titans on this date, June 23, 1962.
