The europeans are on both ends of the extreme. When they are peaceful, they are the biggest pussies on the planet (cops with no guns, protest against nuclear power, beta males in terms of approaching women, shitty militaries, run over by refugees, etc).
However, when they decide to become violent, that's when you see the camps, pogroms, gulags, etc. The reaction is extreme.

I think the Europeans made a lot of mistakes in the aftermath of WWII and they are paying for it now. In their response to the evil regimes they essentially went from one extreme to the other with regards to privacy laws. Their privacy laws make it virtually impossible for them to protect their private citizens from terrorism until after the fact. The EU which started as a free trade agreement has turned into a dictatorship.

the simple fact is this obozo administration is cooking the books with regard to gun crime. take away chicago, houston and new orleans and the guns death per capita drops us to about number 50 in the world. and that assumes that the data from the other places is accurate. also the crime rate has been going down since 1995 with and without the dumb assault weapon ban. and, as obozo said, there is more chance of dying in a bathtub accident than by a terrorist act. of course obozo is talking since 2008. the bottom line is this nation is not that violent. the eurotrash are too much in a stupor to see what's going on and there are tons of crimes that are going unreported.

But you cant just "take away chicago, houston and new orleans". I'll never understand why we cant work to lessen violence, regardless of whose stats you believe or regardless of who we compare too. Cant we always try and be better?

Cant we always try and be better? New York was just as bad. Then Giuliani and Bratton (I will mention both bc some give Bratton the credit) changed the way we policed. Sure some eggs were cracked but I think everyone agrees we have a better omelette today than we did in the 70s and 80s. Chicago seems to be doing the opposite. They elected Obama's right-hand man. No real change in politics in generations.

He is credited with bringing what we know today as CompStat to the NYPD. I would yield to 32 on this one as Im sure he knows better than I do. Im just deducing based on his current stint. Seems like he takes his queues from city hall.

Cant we always try and be better? I think the fact that crime stats are drastically down suggests we are already working to lessen violence.

Also, we'll have to listen to a long yarn about a stakeout in 1987 before he gets to a point.
