July 10, 1990On this date, in 1990, the Jets selected WR Rob Moore from Syracuse with the 3rd pick in the first round of the supplemental draft. "Its hard to find a negative about him," said Jets GM Dick Steinberg at the time. "He's smart, big for the position and we are getting him a year in advance. Its easy to overanalyze something like this, but when a player like Rob is available, you take him." Moore had a nice 10-year NFL career, spending 5 seasons each with the Jets and the Arizona Cardinals. He caught 628 passes for over 9,300 yards and 49 TDs: 306 receptions as a Jet for 4,258 yards and 22 TDs. Not a bad return, but Moore will always be remembered in Jet history for the guy the Jets likely would have taken the next season had they held onto their first round pick: Southern Miss QB Brett Favre. Moore remains the only player the Jets have ever selected in the supplemental draft.
