The Jets release offensive tackle Jumbo Elliott. About 16 months earlier, Elliott had announced his retirement from football, but after a successful offseason shoulder surgery, Jumbo reconsidered and decided to give it one last shot. And it is a good thing he did, otherwise he would not have been able to make this play to tie the game in the final minute, setting the Jets up to complete the Monday Night Miracle:
After sitting out the 2001 season, Jumbo returned to the Jets to play his final NFL season in 2002.
