Because your family didn't own slaves doesn't mean black weren't oppressed. Not at all trying to diminish the strife of slaves of any color. Slavery is a horrible thing and we should definitely learn and I believe most Americans have learned from the past. My point is : - The current trend is to blame all current white Americans for the sins of ~1.4% of white Americans
- No one alive today was a government sanctioned slave in America
- NO ONE ever mentions the horrific % of Free black Americans who owned slaves
- Everyone acts as though America is the only place slavery existed or persisted into the 1800s
Personally I feel that healing can never occur until you let go of past offences. I was just trying to give some perspective but thank you for giving the knee jerk reaction rather than actually reading and thinking about what was posted.
I did read and think. I just think you miss the point completely. You are making all about yourself. "Hey, I wouldn't own slave so whats the problem." Its not about you and your feelings. I agree that we need to move on. But that doesn't happen when you try an minimize what happened. And that's what you do by saying "only 1.4%." Not one of us should feel guilty, but we also cant minimize what happened. And PS: If we were rich and lived back then we would have owned slaves. Its a part of out history. |

I'm guessing their goal is equality to White Americans. Currently their wages are about half that of whites. Now we can talk about WHY that its for sure. You can say they have the same opportunities, some would disagree, Im sure. |

Ehh, you want to see some stats that will make you puke go look up the stats on inbreeding in the Muslim world. They have been inbreeding for 1500 years and they are actually fucking themselves into mental Hot guy I'd like to blowation. I think it's something like 2% of the UKs population is Pakistani but 33% of the birth defects there are due to them marrying first cousins. They have studies where they show the effects, lower IQ, poor vision, etc. it's pretty disturbing.

I don't think a slave cared HOW MANY whites owned slaves. I think the more pertinent figure would be what percentage of blacks were slaves. high percentage I imagine... The actual figure is like 400,000... |

Why are you having babies before age 21 and a decent job? I had an intern who told me the guys in her neighborhood bragged openly about how many women they got pregnant. Approximately 3 of 5 black children are born to unwed women under 21 . I don't care what nationality you are but that is a recipe for poverty. |
