August 26, 2013August 26 was cut down day prior to the start of the 2013 season. It was the day NFL teams had to trim their rosters from 90 to 75 players. Among the players the Jets cut that day was Braylon Edwards. Braylon only played one full season for the Jets (2010) and parts of two others (2009 & 2012), but his ability to make big plays in big spots quickly made him a fan favorite. The 80-yard TD catch in the AFCCG against Indy, the 18 yard reception the following season in the Wild Card round to set up Nick Folks game winner, also in Indy. But the biggest play he made as a Jet was probably the TD in the Divisional playoffs aagainst New England when he dragged several Pats defenders into the end zone. After the Jets released him in 2013, Braylon never got another opportunity as his NFL career came to an end.

Still one of the dumbest moves in the history of the Jets organization.

i guess the reason was because he was injured but braylon was a playmaker and it's hard to find those kinds of players. he didn't latch onto any other team so maybe it was the right move.
