So in an interview with MSNBC Gary Johnson asked "what is Aleppo" when being asked what he would do about Aleppo, Syria and the civil war. And ever since he has been taking an absolute pounding by the liberal media that once seemed to love him and touted him as the alternative to the ignorant and dangerous Donald Trump for conservatives.
Why is that? Why are they not giving him the benefit of the doubt since he has already discussed Syria plenty of times and this was an obvious brain fart.
I have a theory. The pundits have been arguing the whole cycle about who Gary Johnson is taking voted away from. When Clinton was enjoying rather healthy leads in the polls Gary Johnson was getting very positive coverage albeit relatively small compared to the major two candidates. The past couple of weeks have seen a tightening in the polls as more and more warts begin to show on Hillary. And now Johnson who had been enjoying an easy campaign in terms of media scrutiny as well as Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush promoting him behind the scenes has seen the media turn on him all at once. Perhaps they now believe he is hurting Hillary more than helping her. With all of his policies on display for months to be critiqued why now?
