This Carrier announcement has got me so stoked. It reminds me of when the Iranians released the hostages as soon as Reagan took office. This isn't at that level but man it feels good to be an American tonight. When I read the tweet from Carrier that Untouchable posted I swear to God I got chills. I started screaming at the wife "Hey, you want to hear some great news?!?!" She was pretty stoked too.

And now every corp will extort us for their slice of corporate welfare

A thousand people with families in one community would have lost their jobs and now they aren't. Not to mention all of the related jobs that this non relocation saved. I remember when Obama was elected thinking that this guy wasn't my cup of tea but I would give him a chance. He was my President. Trump is yours whether you like it or not. How about you give the guy a break and stop being such a pain in the ass.

How is trump going to find $550 billion for infrastructure and cut corporate taxes at the same time? Borrow more from ChIna? I'm all for rebuilding infrastructure. Kicking the illegal parasites out will be a good start

fter campaigning as a champion of coal miners, Donald Trump is reportedly close to choosing for commerce secretary a New York billionaire who owned a West Virginia mine where a dozen miners were killed in 2006. Trump’s favored candidate, Wilbur Ross, also engineered buyouts that cost workers their benefits and their jobs. It’s a striking choice, considering Trump’s promises to improve the lives of coal miners and other working-class Americans.

Context matters. Out of curiosity did you have a problem with Obama appointing Gaithner Secretary of the Treasury even though he didn't pay his own taxes?

TRUMP SUPPORTERS GOT PLAYED: Ross made his money collecting “distressed assets”—failing steel and textile mills in the Midwest and South, and coal mines in Appalachia. Dubbed the “the King of Bankruptcy,” Ross cut jobs, wages, pensions, and health benefits at the companies he acquired, and reaped the profits. In the early 2000s, Ross’s foray into the steel industry netted him a $267 million personal windfall, but stripped health-care benefits from more than 150,000 retired steelworkers. Then he moved on to the coal industry, at one point controlling as much as $1.2 billion in coal assets through his company, the International Coal Group.

He is the commerce secretary. He is going to help remove regulations and try to repatriot money that companies have been stashing overseas bc of taxes.
News flash. When businesses fail (in this case the government systemically killed those industries) there are buyouts and assets need to be dealt with. Nature of business. Hopefully they create an environment that is friendly to the energy sector so we wont have anymore bankruptcies and buyouts and people losing jobs. There will be growth.

Public - private partnership is what he said. thats a little vague on specifics, don't you think? It means privatization, just like everything else they're trying to privatize- schools, Medicare etc. it means they give investors tax credits to build whatever they feel like and then charge "user fees" to use that infrastructure, any amount they want, and pocket it. So instead of spending money, the government will be losing revenue which will be made up by increasing taxes on middle class individuals. But it's all good because investors should make money off roads and bridges that taxpayers funded

I would much rather be allowed to choose what I use and pay for rather than allow government corruption to take it. The government has proven that they steal the money for roads and use it for whatever they want and then they come back for more.
