I'm one of those people who wants an offensive minded HC, but after thinking about it, Quinn makes a lot of sense for 2 reasons (IMO): 1) Besides Bowles, he has the best chance of winning over "Rex's guys" that will remain on the team. One of the media guys brought up a good point yesterday saying whoever the Jets bring in will have the challenge of winning the "hearts and minds" of a lot of guys that loved Rex, especially on defense. Well, Quinn is a local guy (NJ I think), spent time in our organization and most importantly, has the clout of having a Super Bowl ring and running a bad a@@ defense.
2) While we all want a more open and explosive offense, you can argue that the offense that has been run in Seattle the past few years is one that our team is the closest to emulate. Granted, we don't have Russel Wilson, but we're built to be a run first team and do have a mobile QB. Granted, I don't want Geno to be our starter next year, but given our draft position and the potential FAs, fact is, he might be. Maybe Quinn can bring in an OC who can run a similar offense and get more out of Geno if we have to roll with him next year.

fair point. but i think a lot of the "we <3 rex" brigade essentially adds up to the DL and LB. even if it was the DBs, they all suck are are expendable. come to think of it, Harris is on his way out too, and Coples may not really have a place on this team anymore (unfortunately). Wilkerson will still be playing for that Watt-contract he's never going to get, so i don't fear losing his efforts. Davis has taken on a leadership role and, again, will be playing for that Harris-sized contract he's never going to get. Richardson has gone on record saying he's playing for the money. no one else of consequence is worth worrying about. Brick and Mangold have gone through 2 coaching staffs and the rest of the OL sucks and is expendable. Decker and Harvin? not worried a single lick about them. Kerley just got paid. Ivory was beastly in NO before he came here and will continue to be.
while i think this is a fair point, i think its an overstated worry. if the next HC can put a good offense on the field, Rex's beloved defensive players will be soon to forget how hard he made them work for nothing.
