for a democracy? Probably is. Luckily, the US is a democratic Republic, so we have that going for us. I keep hearing that over and over when this topic gets brought up. For a "democratic republic", it's strange that the president is the only nominated office in the US that completely disregards majority vote. Every other nominated official, and there are what, thousands, that are decided by the majority? I'm sure our president elect now realizes that we're a democratic republic though. He apparently didn't have a clue in 2012. Back when he hated the idea of the electoral college. Something I can actually agree with him about. no one thinks Trump is correct on everything (unlike libs with their candidates) The Founding Fathers got it right with the Electoral College: its a great balance. Much better than popular vote, Even proportional voting is better than straight majority.

Why should a vote in 2016 mean something in Ohio, but not in New York? It made sense back in the 1700's, but not today. Of course you like it because it favors republicans, but it's the reason why I don't even bother to vote. And won't vote in the future either. My vote is completely meaningless because of the state i choose to live in, so why should i go out and waste my time? It's one country and we're all residents in it, but votes only matter in about 6 states. And this has nothing to do with this specific election. Trump won - he's the president. I'm just generally speak for all presidential elections. This was my opinion long before Trump was ever elected.

But Trump won more states which is better than Cankles winning CA, NY, and 1 or 2 other big states and becoming president. Seriously, if you don't like this, you must hate the idea of the Senate where each gets 2 senators no matter size....

And why would I hate the senate? Every state is treated the same. It's consistent. It makes sense. And guess how they're elected? Popular vote for the entire state. It's not broken up into counties within the state. It makes sense.

Using the Electoral College for POTUS elections made sense then (the fear of one person possessing too much power), as it does today. At least Trump won't be abusing Executive Orders like His Royal Assholiness Obozo did....
