I love the guy. He's been a great Jet and a real trooper.
But the dude drops WAY too many balls, really easy ones that would be for sure first downs.
And now he looks like he's not even trying. No effort.
You've got Bilal busting his balls, Quincy laying out for balls and Anderson trying to catch everything. And Petty getting crushed repeatedly and getting up.
I think it's time for Marshall to move on to the TV booth.

There is no reason to bring him back next year. I have no idea if he is a problem in the locker room(he doesn't seem to be), but get rid of him before he does.
There are a lot of things wrong with the Jets, and 1 of the biggest is the culture, and it needs to change fast. Anyone that potentially hinders that needs to go.

Yes that is definitely our biggest problem

The only expensive or underperforming veteran I bring back next year, if he's healthy, is Mangold.
Revis, gone. Skrine, gone. Marshall, gone. Forte, gone. Fitz, gone. Geno, gone. Etc.
I keep Mangold 1. because he's my favorite Jet (we should admit our biases) and 2. Because this O-line is so bad, I don't think we can rebuild it all in one offseason. Johnson is ok as a backup, and maybe future starter, but he's no Mangold yet.
Decker can stay, but man he needs to be less fragile....

Then secondary. Go with Petty Hack and a Vet to back up. Powell and someone else is fine. Find a big back. Jenkins at TE? Perhaps.

Anyone and everyone from that group that can be moved for a draft pick should be moved. Hell we invested a 5 in Marshall and got this much. If we can get that much for him now, so much the better. Much of that group will be long gone If and when this team gets to be comprehensive again, so by all means get what we can for them

A couple of other people need to be gone at the very least. The Special Teams Coach and the Defensive Coach and I'd prefer they take that emotionless turd of a head coach with them but it appears he's safe for another season. I use to really like Marshall but he wasn't even trying last night, he's sulking and collecting a pay check. It was good to see guys like Leo,, Powell, Petty, Forte, Peake, and Quince E not laying down.

I'm fine with that group, but I'm swapping Mangold for Skrine (who is horrendous). It does not make any sense spending 9 million on an old Mangold next year when Johnson is a younger, cheaper option. Skrine sucks on the outside, but if we cut him and Revis (who should be the first one gone), we are only bringing back Marcus Williams, Roberts and Burris going into the offseason. We can't do that.

Frankly I don't think we can do much worse than this secondary. I've never seen a bunch consistently score as badly as this group does. Have to do better than this.

Marshall is a loser. All the talent in the world, but drops crucial passes with the pressure on. There is a reason his teams have never made the playoffs. He comes up small in big time situations. Loser before, loser now and loser forever.

If we want to blame him for hiring a shitty secondary coach, I think that is a legitimate criticism. The cornerback play has torpedoed the defense this season. By not having CBs that can play man and cover their guy, we have been forced to play more cover 2. This forces Pryor to play more coverage (where he sucks) rather than closer to the line (where he excels). We are also restricted from blitzing less, which is why we can't pressure the QB.

It was obvious even from the stands that Marshall was either dropping them on purpose or I don't know what. It must have been even more clear on tv. All alone, pass right in the breadbasket, and he drops it. Petty's completion record should be upped by the 4 or 5 this clown dropped.
Still maintain it's all about the coaching. Something is making all these veterans quit.
