This draft class is crazy. Even with Chubb returning. There's not even that many jobs in the NFL to support all these kids...
Or is there?
Going to be drafted: D. Cook L. Fournette C. McCaffrey D. Foreman W. Gallman A. Kamara C. Samuel K. Hunt (toledo) C. Clement (wisc) J. Connor (Pit) S. Perine J. Williams (BYU) D. Smith (Mich) D. Pumphrey (sd) 14
Probably going to drafted or at least high priority UDFA: B. Hill (Wyoming) J. Mixon J. Hurd M. Dayes (NC) J. McNichols (boise) J. Thomas (Temple) S. Linwood (baylor) M. Mack (S. Fl) E. Hood (UNC) J. Yearby (MIA) S. Williams (UK) A. Jones (UTEP) 12
So that's 26 running backs i would say stand a good-to-great chance to make an active roster. Not talking as reserve backs and practice squads fodder. Teams who are unlikely to add a meaningful RB to the roster.: OAK, BUF, ATL, DAL, NOS, CHI, SEA, TEN
RBs on the move probable to land jobs: A. Peterson, J. Charles, E. Lacy, D. Martin, L. Dunbar, R. Matthews, R. Jennings, M. Jones, E. Lacy Out of the league?... K. Robinson, D. McFadden, J. Forsett, S. Draughn, D. Robinson, C. West, D. Williams, D. McCluster, A. Ellington, D. Woodhead
You see the math here? In order for all these backs (who i believe bring enough to the table) to all be somewhere, more backs need to leave the league. Which side gives? More vets out -- OR -- talented backs with no jobs?
Thoughts?

Thoughts? Given these numbers does it make any sense to use a Top 10 pick on one of the elite guys (Cook, Fournette)? It almost seems like the Jets would focus on Defense (again) with either a CB or an OLB prospect at the Top of Round 1 and could come back and potentially get a guy with 1st round talent at the Top of Round 2. Do you see it that way? EDIT: One more thing....since you seem to love this stuff! Would you mind tiering the 14 prospects you listed? Just draw some cutoff lines between Round 1 talents, Round 2, 3, etc?

Most years I would agree with you, but there is one thing we have been lacking for years, that I hope we can get with the 6 pick, is a legitimate playmaker. A guy who is a threat to score any time he touches the ball, regardless of where we are on the field. To me, there are two potentially elite playmakers in this draft, regardless of position: Cook and Fournette. I put them in a different category than the other RBs. There are only so many times that you are going to be able to drive the ball 15 plays and 80 yards for a score -- you need big plays to put up 20+ points on a consistent basis. Enunwa is probably the closest that we have to a big play threat. Give me Cook/Fournette in the first and I will be happy. I like both guys, but I prefer Cook, I like his ability to see the opportunity away from where the play is designed to be blocked and to change direction and hit the hole. I am concerned about Fournette's injury history, and so much of his game is power that I worry about how well it will translate to the next level. His ceiling is probably higher than Cook's with his elite size and speed, but I think he is a riskier pick.

Cook/Fournette are elite talent, and the kind of playmakers we need. Like he said -- every drive can't be 20 plays via a bunch of "jack-of-all-trades"... DAL had no need for Elliot last year. They'd signed Alfred Morris, still had DMC under contract. RB was not a need, not with their Oline... do you think they regret taking Elliot now? We have to take the best Football player at #6 IMO. Good chance that's Cook/Fournette. My order would be ( bolded the guys I really like): 1ACook 1B Fournette2nd-3rd RND (ftr i'm SUPER against taking a back in rnds 2-3) D. Foreman C. McCaffrey (this one has the NE stink all over it) W. Gallman C. Samuel D. SmithA. Kamara 4th-7th K. HuntJ. Connor J. Mixon J. HurdC. Clement J. Thomas A. JonesE. Hood Not interested: (all 4th-7th round guys) B. Hill J. Williams S. Perine D. Pumphrey J. McNichols M. Mack M. Dayes S. Linwood J. Yearby S. Williams
