I think you misunderstood me. There was zero political content in my post, I apologize if I didn't express myself clearly...my non sequitur was probably where this fell apart. Not everything is the Great Debate. Sometimes I just babble. I also didn't say anything that anyone could really disagree with. My only 2 thoughts were: 1. China's Wall is considered one of the great wonders because its engineering was so far ahead of its time. 2. And while an engineering marvel it was less successful in is goal to keep people out. If I was unclear I apologize, your imaginary conversation aside, I really wasn't trying to make any connection to Trumps wall. I don't talk politics online anymore to avoid this very kind of thing. Ive always had very nice conversations with you. If I had something to say I would just say it. My bad. I’ll take half the blame. Hug it out?

I’ll take half the blame. Hug it out? I appreciate the sentiment, but I'll take a raincheck.

Anyone who thinks walls don't keep stuff out have apparently never been inside of a building.
The walls of my house keep out cold air, hot air, bees, flies, birds, Jehovah's Witnesses, rain, etc.
Why do prisons have walls if they are apparently ineffectual?

This is just the left being willfully ignorant and purposely obtuse. They are literal dumb fucks.
What do you expect from a party whose members have to kick their own asses to cry victim because Bad Orange Mans supporters aren't being racist enough?
But please. Do go on Cheech and FF2. We appreciate your AOC levels of cognitive dissonance here.

My first point: "The Great Wall of China is celebrated as one of the new seven wonders of the world" That is factually correct, right? My second point: The Great Wall is not "derided as an immoral xenophobic political stunt". It has not. So, this is correct to, right? My observation: "Weird?" Perhaps this is where I lose you? It is weird that the largest border wall ever constructed is identified as a new seven wonders of the world and no one ever says that the Wall in China was "immoral". Nor do they say it was the product of "xenophobia". Nor do they call it a "political stunt". Your response: "Not really. It's appreciated for its ahead of its time engineering not its utilitarian success. It didn't always work. Genghis Khan broke through the wall and took control of parts of China." So, your point is, it is not really weird that it is one of the seven wonders and not regarded as an immoral xenophobic political stunt because the great wall was not as effective as they had hoped and didn't always work. That is a non sequitur. If you want to have a real discussion rather than just score points by registering your disagreement with anything you view as opposing your worldview, I'm open to it. If you responded with something like, "that's not weird because tribalism was the norm when the wall was built and culturally xenophobia was not really a thing at the time. And then added, Sonny, if your point is to defend Trump's Wall, I would point out the the Great Wall was not as effective as you might think." And then I would reply but the left always ascribes current cultural and political sensibilities on historical events and people (i.e. Columbus) rather than give them the benefit of their cultural and societal historical context. And Trump's Wall will not be facing the largest land army of it's time. You see. That is a discussion, rather than an exchange of words made for the sole purpose of scoring points by disagreeing with anything that is different than your own world view. I think you misunderstood me. There was zero political content in my post, I apologize if I didn't express myself clearly...my non sequitur was probably where this fell apart. In my defense to misunderstanding your meaning and intent, I would note that the post is in the "ALL POLITICS AND RELIGION" Forum in a thread entitled "DONALD J. TRUMP CONTRACT WITH THE AMERICAN VOTER".

Drugs flow through the ports of entry because only 30% of vehicles and cargo are screened, the wall does not stop it. You want to argue there aren’t drugs and other contraband in jails and prisons? No one is arguing for open borders, but spending money to build more walls because of a campaign promise isn’t a good idea either. This country is in dire need for infrastructure, the highways and bridges are falling apart.

You avoid political commentary about as well as Robert Kraft avoids happy endings at strip mall massage parlors. It was more a commentary on his poor analogy.
