linkI came up with an idea where every couple of days or so, I can post a couple of videos of prospect the board is interested in and we can all chip in on some analysis. It will be interesting to get all of our opinions in one place on different players. If you have someone you are interested in, let me know and I'll create a post. I wanted to start with Fournette, who has become somewhat of a controversial option for the team at 6. Since he was injured for most of the year, I'm picking 2 games from 2015, including the often cited Alabama game. Share your thoughts!

It's odd that you brought up Fournette as the first player in this exercise. It seems every draft there is a player rated highly that is a fit for us, yet I never watch their tape. I can't explain why.....maybe because I think we are going to draft that player and I don't want to hate "said" player.
This year it's Fournette, last year was Lynch.

I've watched some on him and I see why people love him, but for some reason he's not my favorite. I'm probably over thinking it and need to watch more so I can form an actual opinion on him.

* very good size
* Rare speed and explosiveness for his size
* He's not a cut on a dime type of back (its hard to be at his size), but does show lateral agility at time with a side step move and a spin move
* Shows good vision
* He's not a back that is going to make people miss in the backfield. He is best when he gets going north and south and can slip through holes or cut back
* Good short yardage runner
* Ge has the tools to be a good pass blocker, but in his sophomore tape, his technique is not very good. His technique looked better in the 2016 tape, so he may have worked on it in the offseason
* Underrated receiver because he did not get a lot of targets (and LSU has shit QBs). Uses his hands well and I didn't notice a lot of body catching
* Had a heavy workload his sophomore year, his junior year he missed a couple of games, but that may have been a blessing in disguise
* Some may argue that he is an I formation back only, but if you watch the tape you will see some instances where he takes handoffs out of the shotgun.

I only watched the Wisconsin game so far but I like Cooks style of running much better, I'm just not sure about what is upstairs with Cook.
Fournette looks a bit like Eddie George in that game and I was never a huge fan although he carved out a nice career for himself. Very upright, I'm not seeing that sudden change of direction and short burst, that I see with Cook. I'll have to watch some more because he is definitely a possibility for the Jets.

Watched both the Wisconsin and Auburn tapes. Looks like the type of guy that needs a crease from his OL - if a hole is there, he can burst through it and any time he gets to the 2nd level, he is a threat to go all the way. Too fast for LBs and too big for DBs. He would be the home run hitter we have not had for years.
But, if the hole or a seam is not there at the point of attack, he is not going to make many guys miss. Good speed to get to the corner, but I do not see the elite level vision or elusiveness that Cook has where he can make something out of nothing. Good hands when he had opportunities in the passing game, but his blocking was a bit of a mixed bag.
Have not watched the Alabama game tape, but I know he had limited success against Bama, and I am afraid that that is what it may be like when he goes up against good defenses. He will feast on bad teams, but will he be successful against the good ones. As a pure runner, I still prefer Cook's vision and elusiveness, but as others have said, there are a ton of red flags swirling around Cook right now.

Daniel Jeremiah was the first guy to make the comparison, but Fournette reminds me of Jamal Lewis, the Ravens RB.

He's been my guy all season assuming Garrett is off the board.
So of course, we'll draft Marlon Humphrey.

You guys are still overthinking like a son of a bitch.
Again, I like Cook, but color my brown eye blue if I'm taking him over Fournette.

Just trying to present what I see as the strengths and weaknesses to Fournette's game. If I had to make a pick today, I am probably taking Fournette over Cook -- which is not what I would have done a month ago. The off field stuff about Cook is concerning, and he showed up out of shape to start this past season. Fournette is a physical freak who does not come along often. His upside is huge. Also, while I like to make my own judgement, I also have to trust the judgement of guys who know way more about this shit than I do, and there has been a lot more talk of Fournette as #1 back and a top 10 pick than Cook.
