Weird stat of the day.
Thor's first pitch was the fastest first pitch ever on opening day, clocked at 98.3 mph.

The one thing I can't stand about the Mets is that stupid fucking tradition of playing an opening day game...and then taking a day off.
WTF.

I think it is just about any team that plays in a cold weather city. Keep the day free following opening day in case of bad weather, especially since most teams now charge a premium for opening day tickets -- Mets, Nats, Twins, Reds, Orioles, White Sox all had off days scheduled after the opener. Needed it here in Chicago where the Sox got rained out.

If I can charge more for opening day, and its rained out, I will play the game the next day and minimize the number of refunds.

Same ol Mets, no fuckin' run support. WTF is that old timer Reyes doing batting lead off? And what's with Robles? He's throwing all over the fuckin' place and Terry keeps him in. Chrissakes.

Didn't see much of the game, but from what I did see, some of those at bats were dreadful. The 10th inning, with the winning run on 2nd, D'arnaud and Kelly had two of the worst at bats I can remember. D'arnaud taking a call strike 3 right down themiddle on a 3 pitch at bat, and Kelly, I believe striking out on a check swing. It is only 2 games, so I don't want to overreact, but if not for some terrible Braves relief pitching on Monday afternoon, we would have 1 run on the season.

This is why I said the Braves bullpen imploded opening day and not that the Mets bats exploded. The at bats have looked terrible so far. When your pitcher holds the other team to 1 run, you're supposed to win. Especially against low quality teams. Like you said, too early still but the Mets are supposed to be getting fat off the Braves, Marlins, Phillies to have any chance of beating out the Nats. Definitely a little concerned.

And all this boot licking on the Mets FB page about Cespedes. With the Mets he has hit .207 in the post season. Not exactly a super star.

Really couldn't have asked for much more out of the game tonight. Strong, efficient outing from Harvey, and the bats getting going in the last few innings.
Nice win.

Conforto with a 430 foot bomb.
Just a gorgeous swing.

And the bats are alive !!
Few things better than delivering the Fillies an asskicking in their stadium.

Well, at least there is some good news today -- because these last 4 have just been beyond ugly.
