When I was a Freshman in HS I recall that they cut the school year short by 5 days cause we had an early spring and the strawberries needed picking, the students as young as 8 year olds were the pickers.
80 cents a flat, most could do close to 15 or 16 flats a day, the really ambitious would do 30 or more. Then later we would help with the raspberries, cukes and beans. This was how we earned our money for school clothes, football cleats, maybe a few trips to the movies and a few albums. The rest was provided for.

Did you have an aunt Bea and go to school with Gomer and Goober?

I'm wondering what makes an American "qualified" to pick grapes?
Tell me this isn't Trump in a nutshell:
In March 2016 Donald Trump stated publicly that he owned "the largest winery on the east coast" at a time when the winery's website asserted that it was owned by Eric Trump Wineries LLC and despite previous reports that Trump had given the winery to his son. According to Politifact, Trump Winery is not the largest on the East Coast regardless.

They do a lot of cherry-picking contradicting themselves. How would one quantify the "largest" winery anyway? Bottles produced? Number of vines? Number of barrels? Acreage? Revenue? Number of Employees? Number of distributors? You can probably end up with many "largest" depending on criteria.

Hence the "want the jobs part".
