So, reading some of the threads here in the past couple of weeks, I see respected poster RobR is in particular high on Parker at number 6, even over Amari Cooper who Rob contends does not have as high upside as Parker (do I have that right Rob?)
Anyway, I don't think anyone doubts Parker will go high in the draft, but I note that apparently he's sitting out the Senior Bowl, and apparently a reason might be is he does not have true break-away speed, and that could be exposed at the Senior Bowl. So I guess the upshot is how high he will go will be decided by his 40 time?
So my question is this, if we are going wide-reciever at 6, and Cooper is off the board, what happens if Parker's 40 time is either just average or slow? Does it matter that much?
What about another scenario where Parker and Cooper are both on the board at 6 and both test around about the same at the Combine/pro days? RobR would take Parker, but what about the rest of you?
I guess its very early in this process, we are months away from the draft - but my feeling is Cooper may well be off the board at 6, and if Parker is slow that may well knock his draft value back to the mid-teens - his choice to avoid the Senior Bowl isn't great. However if both Cooper and Parker are both on the board and both test equally well we'll have a hell of a choice to make.

Parker isn't sitting out of the Senior Bowl because he is afraid that he could be exposed as being slow, he is sitting out because he is already a consensus top 20. He doesn't benefit from going there. Most scouts already know he isn't a burner, that's not really his game anyway. He will run at the combine and maybe at his pro day. He gains nothing by going to the Senior Bowl right now.

Respected poster....most people here think I'm an asshole. Regarding Parker, I think he'll run faster than many think and is probably more concerned about training for the combine. He was already injured at the beginning of the year and passing on the senior bowl is in his best interests because he's going high. I like him better than Cooper for obvious reasons. He's bigger, more than likely faster, better hands, and has the ability to be a true #1. Cooper is good and I like him but the ability to be a #1 is not there. Is he a much better prospect than Marquise Lee who he is being compared to.....absofuckinglutely. I would only hate the pick if we use the #6 on it or god forbid, trade up.

Either way its a shame, love how he plays and would have enjoyed his contributions at the senior bowl.
To the OP, the special stuff with Parker are his hands (if you ever watched Stephen Hill play you will note what we were missing - Parker catches everything with his hands and his transition into securing the football is so smooth, he is a natural receiver) and size (he is bigger than Coop by a couple of inches). If anything, I think the senior bowl would have solidified his reputation.
Neither Parker or Cooper have breakaway speed from what Ive seen. Cooper is just solid all around and has terrific route running.
I have no prob with either at 6. If we trade back then Strong and White are both solid options too, though i think a step down.

Thanks - It appears to me that its within his market value and personally, i think Cooper and Parkers production will be comparable with Evans, Watkins, et all. Disclosure: i really want us to go offense in rd1 this year.
