One of my favorite players in the entire draft

* Small in size and weight (this is probably his biggest knock)
* Very fast & quick as he was a top performer in the 40, 3 cone and 20 shard shuttle
* Versatile piece that lined up as a slot CB, box safety and cover one deep safety
* Quick to diagnose run plays and gets there in an instant
* Takes good angles
* Does a nice job of avoiding blocks, but once engaged, doesn't really shake blockers off
* Good tackler and hits hard for a small dude
* Shows good coverage ability as a slot CB
* Nice range as safety that will allow him to play cover 1 or cover 2
* Very good instincts
* Fiery player that should be good in the locker room
* The size concerns me as it could lead to injuries down the road ala Bob Sanders
* If this kid were 2 inches taller and 10-15 lbs heavier, he would be neck and neck with Jamal Adams and Malik Hooker as a prospect and, frankly, I'd prefer to pick him in round 2 than the other 2 in the top 10

I love his skill set, I'm worried about his size. Obviously from a durability standpoint but also...could you imagine him trying to cover a big slot WR or TE? It would be too easy.

Completely disagree. Too easy? It's not like he's a midget. He's the same height as Earl Thomas, but 10lb lighter. I'm sure he can put on another 5lb at the next level without losing any speed so I'm not really worried about his size. What I really love about him is that he can play SS/FS and NCB. In this passing league that's a huge asset. Pound for pound he's the best tackling safety in this draft and takes the best angles. In my opinion he's the glue that turned Washington's back end from great to elite. He roamed that backfield and did it all. Whether is was blitzing off the edge, covering the slot, or giving help over the top. He also recognizes plays pretty quickly and doesn't hesitate. He just plants his foot in the ground and comes down hill like a missile. Oh and the TE's like Gronk that will give him a problem give everyone problems. I wouldn't leave him 1 on 1 most of the time. I'd probably have Lee on Gronk with Baker giving help. His 3 cone and shuttle times also show that he shouldn't have trouble in the slot. Hell I might just have him follow Edelman or Cooks around the field and let Gronk get his because Gronk is Gronk. Again if we drop back and get an extra 2nd he's someone I'd love to grab, but I can see him going before #39. Baker:Height - 5'10 Weight - 195 40 - 4.45 Vert - 32.5 Broad - 115 3 cone - 6.76 (4th best for the S, better than Adams and Hooker) Shuttle - 4.08 (Best for the S) Thomas:
Height - 5'10 Weight - 208 40 - 4.49 Vert - 32 Broad - 113

Some plays from the Peach Bowl. Here he reads the QBs eyes perfectly and leaves his man for a near INT Here he engages the blocker well who has 5 inches and 15lb on him and then sheds him for the tackle Keeps the QB in the pocket and forces the intentional grounding for a sack Sheds the blocker and is able to take down O.J Howard Comes flying off the edge to tackle the RB for a minimal gain. Doesn't fall for the fake and helps fill the gap

Bob Sanders? A small guy who plays big and is hurt all the time? I'm not worried about him getting hurt. He has great form when tackling. If the player is bigger than him he goes low and wraps the legs perfectly. He was one of the few defenders that brought down Bo Scarbrough by himself in the Peach Bowl because he got his legs.

i don't think i could get behind taking a safety at 6 - so if this guy is next up i'd be cool with him in the 2nd.

I'm on record as being fully on board with Hooker at 6, but with that said, if they could get Fournette at 6 and Baker at 39, I would do that.
I think there is a decent chance that scenario could be available too.

Height - 5'10 Weight - 208 40 - 4.49 Vert - 32 Broad - 113 That was a beautiful write up. Like I said, I like him. I actually thought he was a little smaller than that...but yeah, hopefully he can put on a little more weight and not loose any agility. I think he'd be a great snag in the 2nd, not sure he makes it there though. And as you say, everyone struggles 1 on 1 with the Gronk. Cant deny the kid is highly skilled.
