I'm not sure I've ever done a mock draft, but if I have, it's very seldom. What the hell though I guess. Jets Only.
RD1- Leonard Fournette RB/LSU
I think whoever we take at 6, it's not going to be a name we've seen connected with them a lot lately. Fournette fits that bill(to a certain extent) and also fits the BPA philosophy.
**NOTE** If the Jets trade back to say 12, I think the pick will be Hassan Reddick OLB/Temple. Mac knows the value of a top flight pass rusher, and Reddick could become that. Would finally get us the edge rusher we've needed for years.
Rd2- Evan Engram TE/Ole Miss
I wanted to go Defense here, as I think Mac prefers defense over offense(especially if they go offense in RD1), but Engram fits a big need and has superstar potential and could be BPA at this point.
Rd3- Akhello Witherspoon CB/Colorado
Great athlete and great sized. Not a finished product, but well worth a 3rd rounder.
Rd3- Desmond King DB/Iowa
I know, I know, homer pick, but hear me out. The Jets could use both a CB and a Safety. Many people think King is destined for Safety, but I think he would have the opportunity to be a hybrid piece on the defense and do a bit of both worlds, which I think would appeal to Mac and Bowles. This also might be a reach that he's still here for our comp pick in the 3rd, but people might be scared off by his size and measurables.
Rd5-Avery Gennesy T/Texas A&M
Taking a chance on an Athletic Tackle
Rd 6-Chad Williams WR/Grambling
Rd 7-Josh Tupuo NT/Colorado
Let me have it.

I can only speak to the first 3 rounds and I like em, exactly who I would pick in all 3 rounds, except if Jamal Adams was still on the board, still my gut says go offense and Fournette/

I want offense with the first pick. I would love to trade down and still get Howard.
But if the Jets pick was in at 6 and Adams name was called, I would be very happy with the pick.

By the way, I like your mock. I would love to see either Fournette & Engram or Adams & Engram as our first two picks if we stay at 6.

I like your draft overall. However, I think Fournette goes to Jax or the Panthers trade up for him. All this talk about the Panthers loving McCaffrey seems like a smoke screen. Either way that might drop Adams to us who I'd be fine taking at #6. I love your trade back pick of Reddick, but he'd probably be an ILB in the 3-4 that can sometimes play OLB, and an OLB when we're in the 4-3. That's one of the main reasons I love him. So Sign me up for Reddick at #12, Engram at #33, another great player at #39 Garcia/Baker/etc, and Witherspoon in the 3rd. I'd piss my pants out of happiness. Also after Cooks combine and off the field issues he might be there at #39. That would be a dream.

I'm not a fan of the Fournette pick just because I think he has a high bust potential/never live up to his status type of pick. I love Reddick but he'd be a pure ILB for us that has great coverage skills......just don't see him coming off the edge very much. Love Engram and I like both third rounders. I absolutely hate Gennesy.....sucked in college and I don't see any upside. I don't know anything about your last two picks. Overall some good, some bad but I'd give it a meh because I don't like our first rounder...... although I'll probably be wrong about Fournette but we'll see.

I like your picks, but I don't want Reddick in round 1. I think he's great in a 4-3, but on our team, he is an ILB and I don't want that in the first 2 years in a row.

But you kind of want Watson in round 1 when we took Hack in round 2 last year (a mistake). Reddick would do everything we thought Lee would do in the 3-4 at ILB and more. He'd also allow Lee to play better in the 3-4/4-3 by taking responsibilities away from him.

No major complaints beyond Riddick in round in a trade back scenario. Fournette + Engram + the 2 DBs + Chad Williams (watched him recently, he reminds me of Dez Bryant) is all A+ as far as I'm concerned.

Solid draft up top with Fournette and Engram with the first two picks. That will definitely revamp out offense. I'm ok with Witherspoon and have king as my bust pick. I would rather do something like a Teez Tabor/JohnJohnson or Marcus Williams/Shaq Griffin combo in the third. Teez might of had a slow 40 but there is not denying this guys talent and coverage ability. I also love John Johnson and Marcus Williams for their coverage abilities as free safeties something we desperately need should've not get hooker in the first. The rest of your draft was pretty solid.

I will admit, almost everything I based Reddick off of was just what I read, and a few of the guys I like thought he had great pass rush potential as well as coverage skill, so I just assumed he was projected more as an outside guy.
If he's more of an ILB, I wouldn't be as sold on him. Still would be ok with him, as two freak athlete LBs wouldn't be a bad way to build a D, but I'd definitely have to look more at other guys.

Also, I just don't think ILB is a comparatively valuable position on defense. We would be repeating the mistake we made at DL (focusing on interior players vs. pass rushers). I also don't think Reddick would free up Lee too much. Lee needs to work with a thumper ILB so that Lee can run around. Reddick's skill set is similar to Lee (although Reddick is the better player).

That makes sense. I guess I just think all the QBs suck so it would be a complete waste and not fixing a mistake. And I agree Lee needs a thumper. So Reddick and Davis at #12 and #33! haha
