I really like this pick. This was a guy I slept on through the draft process
* Good size at 6'2" and solidly built
* Good athlete and tested well at the combine, jumping 35" and running 4.52
* He's a deep threat, you see him get behind guys constantly
* Does a good job of jumping and catching at the highest point
* Beats the CBs on contested catches (look at the end of the Stanford tape)
* Has a nice stutter step on his release to defeat the press coverage
* Very good YAC and can take it the distance
* He ran a limited route tree at Cal, so I can't comment on his route running ability
* I like him a lot more than Stewart, who we picked one round earlier
* I honestly think this kid slipped because he is white and some people will write him off as being unathletic, but watch the tape, the kid can play

He was Davis's go to receiver, and averaged over 9 catches and a TD per game. I Also like how he's aware of the sideline when going up for the ball. My only knock on him is that he sometimes lets the ball come to him and doesn't attack it unless it's a jump ball. Although some of that was because of Davis's ball placement. His frame should also be able to hold another 5-10lb with out losing any of this athleticism. He kind of reminds me of Davante Adams mixed with Jordy Nelson.

* I honestly think this kid slipped because he is white and some people will write him off as being unathletic, Give me a kid like this, written off, something to prove, any day...over a lauded, spoiled immature "star". They also tend to be high character guys. Thanks for the info.

Now you can see why I liked Davis Webb. Big guy, big arm, and makes the tough throws.

I also agree with your criticism re body catching.

Same I wanted to stay away from Nelson because he's white, but he reminds me of a more polished Adams. He also has a bunch of the same issues Adams did coming out. I'm kind of shocked Green Bay didn't take him, but I guess Adams will eventually be Nelsons replacement.

* Has a nice stutter step on his release to defeat the press coverage That's actually something I didn't like. He looked a bit slow coming off the line and seemed to waste steps. He caught a ton of contested looking balls where it looked like Webb just threw it up to him. I'm not sure if it is good or bad, but he seems like a legit option.

I actually liked him over Stewart as well. Looks like he has good hands and has better play speed than timed speed. If he is developed properly he could be a steal. Lots of mocks had him going early 3rd round.
