You want to build through the draft. You dont do it with a First time HC. Go out and get a proven winner you four eyed fucking weasel

Yep. Bowles and Mac are sticking around. Bowles would need to completely fuck it up to be gone
Love reading that. This team is finally getting it. I'm pretty sure it's Mac that's smacked some sense into Woody.

Thank god Woody is so dumb to think he can win with a first-time HC. Other than Dan Quinn (who Woody passed on for friggn' Todd Bowles), has any first-timer ever been successful in the NFL?

Although when they hired Bowles, Im not sure they had that strategy in mind. They were going for a quick retool/rebuild of what they had - hence the spending spree for players like Revis. This seems like an awakening for Woody. Baby Steps.

I'd add, Woody said theres no playoff mandate (obviously!) but at the same time, never said Mac and Bowles are 100% safe either.

When you draft losers who are busts and then have to draft new losers for the same exact position 2 or 3 years down the road, you are going no where. I've heard this a million times before and woody can suck a dick because it's gonna get ugly at Met Death. Empty, fan-less and depressing. Fuck them.

I hate getting my hopes up but this truly is a new approach for the Jets. I want Woody to know that a year or two of growing pain is acceptable to fans including this season ticket holder. When we were close....I mean really close in 2009 with an AFCCG loss and then Tanny went all in on FA to try to capture the lightening in a bottle, I was okay with it. But Woody needs to know that we fans (at least most of us) are sophisticated enough to understand when the Jets are just bringing in a guy to sell tickets. We don't need 32 year olds with flashy names. We don't need Tim Tebow.
Jettisoning Revis and admitting failure with Pryor and Gilchrist by using high picks on Safeties is a good first step.
Emphasizing the Draft and not spending big in FA? Bravo!!!

I'll go a step further. Woody wants to be judged on progress during the year. That should go for his Head Coach as well. Macc still has a lot to prove but Bowles has even more. As a defensive coach his defense sucked in 2016 and he had locker room issues, a lack of leadership, and guys who think it's okay to show up late to meetings.
Bowles needs to make progress otherwise I'd support a scenario where we give Macc some more time but we let Bowles go. The Jets would likely have a high draft pick and could entice a new HC by letting him pick his QB of the future.
Just my two cents.

I think what he's saying is you'll see them trying but you may not see that result in wins. You may see progress and improvement and competitiveness but a young team may not be able to convert that into wins immediately. I've grown impatient as well, ragu, but I've also seen the previous big spending, big names, throw out Tebow on the field to sell tickets approach.....and it doesn't work. I'm willing to see this play out in 2017 and 2018. What I want to see it... 1. Effort - To the end, on every play, in every game no matter what the record is. 2. Competence - Fewer penalties, smart decisions, guys knowing the playbook and no mental errors. 3. Leadership and Compliance - Guys who aren't late to meetings, guys who don't shoot off their mouths and diss teammates after a loss. 4. A team that's better at the end of the year than the beginning It's like Stokes trying to dunk a basketball or southside trying to get laid. The effort and focus may be there....it just ain't gonna happen right now. Here's to 2019!
