I only recall one person going over the line and they were band. Granted my line is probably higher than most. As for myself, I stated on multiple occasions how I felt that person's POV was an asset here and my desire to not have this place become an echo chamber. But Forums are a democracy, they become want the majority wants them to be. Nothing wrong with that but as you say, echo chamber. If forums were a democracy, JI wouldn't have been sold to Scout.

I'm glad I didn't visit here a lot during the election cycle, and still don't come here too often, because the political climate in this country isn't just toxic in Washington amongst pols but it's become toxic between friends, family members and people who otherwise would get along fine on internet message boards. It's truly a sad state of affairs and despite being a fiscal conservative and social moderate, I found a lot of value in the contributions of those who have significantly different views than I do. VTN isn't the only one who seems to have taken the election hard, and as Trades mentioned, Republicans/conservatives endured 8 years of Obama as liberals are having a hard time getting through the first 8 months of Trump. Meh. Truth be told, I haven't been a true fan of a president since Reagan. But the BEST thing about democracies and our country is that we have the power to change our leaders. Good, bad or indifferent, we have term limits and that's likely what kept Republicans sane (sort of) for 8 years of Obama and why Democrats should be able to hold their noses until 2020.

As for myself, I stated on multiple occasions how I felt that person's POV was an asset here and my desire to not have this place become an echo chamber. I had the same hopes. But it has, maybe its inevitable. I think you are one of the few in wanting other POVs, (or even reading/considering them). When the typical response is "You lost get over it", or 24 memes, the place dries up quick. It's boring. Its why a guy like Warfist who used to post some great stuff doesn't even visit. I disagreed with 80% of his stuff but it made me think and at least see the other side But Forums are a democracy, they become want the majority wants them to be. Nothing wrong with that but as you say, echo chamber. This is not a Political Forum in its current make up. Your'e looking for meaningful discussion. Im looking for entertainment. Im a natural contrarian, skeptic and troll. I can't help myself. Sometimes there is some meaningful discussion and I enjoy those pockets within a thread. End of the day, I realize Im getting fucked no matter who is in charge. I just wish others had the control to resist all the stimuli being thrown at us. Our brains weren't meant to process all this garbage. There is no escape today and that is a bigger problem than any single person or policy. Warfist stuck his nose up at this place from the beginning. I got the sense he was betting against it. I wouldn't expect him to come back after that. Hes too proud. Hope he is having a good time at the snoozefest that JN is. This place is not an echo chamber by design and that is all we can control and frankly all that matters. Can't help it if many of us have the same values and opinions on things. If this were a 49ers or Seahawks board perhaps the discussion would more closely resemble the politics board on reddit or the thread below a Trump tweet.

Good, bad or indifferent, we have term limits and that's likely what kept Republicans sane (sort of) for 8 years of Obama and why Democrats should be able to hold their noses until 2020. Average life expectancy is around 71 years. If we are lucky we are going to live through many Presidents and administrations. If you are going to let 4-8 years of someone who frankly doesn't give a fuck about you ruin your relationships with people then those relationships weren't on solid ground to begin with. As much as I disliked Hillary I am not giving up one of my brothers bc of her. The climate in this country is cancer because of technology. Information is a gift and a curse. Things were just as fucked up in Washington 50 years ago as they are now. Our government is designed to have a little bit of chaos. But the politicians were able to overcome it bc they could make deals without getting blasted in the 24 hours news cycle or on social media. Reagan fought with O'Neill, Clinton with Gingrich. There is so much pressure put on everyone to be a hardliner.

Because everything is seen through a lens by ff2. Everything has to have a political angle. We should charge him a quarter every time he sports a passive-aggressive "Yay" or something.

Meh, she only worked once a year for them. I dont see the big deal.
I dont like where any of this is headed but after decades of the left attacking the advertisers of the few personalities on TV that are right-wing it was bound to happen.

Well, CNN fired her...thanks to you snowflakes. This is just stoopid. While I disagree with her antics but this is fucking America. I see that as free speech. Her own left lib celebs were hitting her for it. I see that as a natural form of punishment. Losing a job over something like this is wrong. From either side. Clint Eastwood was so right when he said we are a bunch of pussy's who have lost all sense of humor.

This is not a free speech thing. It is against the law to threaten the US president. This is different. If any one of us had made death threats against a sitting US president we would get a visit from the secret service.

If any one of us had made death threats against a sitting US president we would get a visit from the secret service. She is probably going to get interviewed by the SS. Obviously she isn't a legitimate threat but if we are going to claim that Trump's rhetoric helps recruit terrorists then what does this do?
