Legal prostitutes are joining forces as “Hookers for Healthcare,” opposing President Trump’s healthcare bill. The licensed working girls say millions of legal sex workers and their families will lose medical coverage.
Rising Republican star and brothel owner Dennis Hof said providing medical coverage to working girls could lead to a slippery slope … and then the women might ask for “free split-crotch panties” or “free pepperoni pizza.”
Because samesies.
Prostitution is only legal in Nevada where brothels run in rural areas and the women who work there are independent contractors. Obamacare (officially, the Affordable Care Act) allowed thousands of prostitutes across the nation to obtain affordable health care insurance for themselves and their families.
Alice Little, a 27-year-old legal prostitute from the Sagebrush Ranch brothel, is leading the Hookers for Healthcare drive and encouraging hundreds of her courtesan colleagues to sign up.
“Hundreds of thousands, and maybe millions, of sex workers in the U.S. will lose their healthcare coverage if the TrumpCare bill passes, and even more will be adversely affected as a result of the legislation,” Little, who was voted “Hooker of the Year” by seven brothels (including the famous Moonlite Bunny Ranch) said. “This includes Nevada’s most unique and vulnerable demographic — the thousands of licensed working girls who ply their trade in the only state where prostitution is legal, but are classified as independent contractors, we are at the mercy of the healthcare marketplace, to obtain our own insurance.”
Hof, who owns Sagebrush, the Bunny Ranch and five other brothels, doesn’t agree with the women working in his establishments and said handing out medical coverage to the women he contracts will lead to a “slippery slope.”
"I believe in people taking responsibility for their own lives, and not asking for these kind of government handouts," Hof, a Libertarian-cum-Republican, said. "You start giving these working girls free or discounted healthcare coverage, then what comes next? Free split-crotch panties? Free licorice-flavored condoms? Free pepperoni pizza? I think you get my point — this is definitely not a road we want to go down."
(FYI, Hof, no one wants licorice-flavored licorice, so licorice-flavored condoms don't sound like a big seller. And we're pretty sure people would give up pepperoni pizza for life if it means their children have medical coverage.)
Little said it isn’t just the bordello babes; cashiers, bartenders, housekeepers and others who provide “the backbone” of the industry will be negatively impacted.
Little’s older clients will have less money, she said, which is another way her livelihood will be threatened.
“Under TrumpCare, insurers will be able to charge older consumers five times more than younger consumers,” Little said. “People over the age of 65 make up a very large percentage of Nevada brothel clients. If these clients are forced to pay unfairly augmented healthcare costs, they will not have money on hand to spend on the things that make life worth living in the first place — like sex with a beautiful and talented working girl.”
Little called it the “antithesis” of the platform on which Trump campaigned.
