I could see Harbaugh to the Jets Ian's no GM is picked. It looks like he wants more say and the 9er's are not willing to give him that. Let him run the whole deal like Parcells used to do. I'd also trust him to take a young QB and make him successful. He did wonders for Alex Smith and is doing likewise for Kap. We also need a competent personnel man in place. We draft like shit.

This should be the primary objective of the Jets offseason. Rex is a fucking dunce and whoever is in favor of bringing him back should lobotomize themselves with a dildo. It's time to totally clean house from top to bottom. Throw the bank at Jim Harbaugh and give him full control then do what it takes to draft Marcus Mariota in April. Designate Mike Iupati as your primary target in FA to shore up the OL, add a CB like Byron Maxwell or Chris Harris, and retain Harvin. A major, drastic shakeup is what is needed. Can't stand another year of this total ineptitude on offense. The 49ers had a trade with the Browns for Jim Harbaugh. That trade fell through because Harbaugh wife loves the Bay Area. So I don't see Harbaugh moving to the East coast under any circumstances..( if the 49ers don't want him some other west coast team will be glad to hire him(. All true, I could see Harbaugh going to Oakland before I see him coming to the Jets.

If that were to occur I would think he would have to stay in San Fran for another two seasons, if Harbaugh leaves and takes a new job after this season then he is going to be there for at least 4 years.

Must get an offensive minded head coach, draft Mariotta, and pick up some free agent OL and draft some OL help, also must get some DB free agents to help us in that putrid area jf I really believe that if the jets are in a position to draft marriota, they could convince John gruden to be HC. Gruden just about creams his pants whenever he talks about chip Kelly's offense, and I believe the opportunity to work with a QB who already knows it would be difficult for him to resist. Why would anyone want Jon Gruden to be there head coAch. Couple of things you have to consider.. How long has it been since Jon Gruden last coached( the game has changed a lot since than- now a passing league). 2. What young Qb has J Gruden ever developed in his life. 3. j Gruden tends to favor Veterans over young players- ( that's all good but eventually those veterans get old- need those young player to eventually take over for those veterans). Developing young players was never his strength as a coach. So in conclusion signing a big name coach like J Gruden just for that name, would be a big mistake . you probably would be setting the organization back for years. The Jets need to find a proven offensive coach, but I think you need to do better than J Gruden.

I dunno, I'm not a big Gruden fan or anything, but I don't think he's nearly out of touch as you think. I've noticed a few times lately, he'll call out plays before they get run. Last one I heard was a TD play, it was pretty impressive.

From what I saw last, and throughout the season, Mariota is the real deal. He'd look great in Jet green.

@adamschefter: One NFL source convinced Raiders are the favorite to trade for HC Jim Harbaugh, but Jets also known to be keeping a close eye on situation.
Wonder what the asking price is going to be? Won't be able to trade up for Mariota AND trade for Harbaugh.

Probably a long shot for us given his ties to the Bay Area, but, if the report is true, its good to see we are at least exploring the possibility.

Won't be able to trade up for Mariota AND trade for Harbaugh. Considering that Herm was traded for a fourth, the 49ers are probably at least looking for a first. We could still potentially get both if we trade our 2016 pick(s) for Harbaugh.

Jets will have a high draft priority in 2015, why ask for compensation that is unknown?

This is the right approach. Unless there's an Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning slam dunk type of QB, you don't draft one yet. Build from the inside out. We have a very good d-line in place, now do the same on the other side of the ball. No point in throwing a young kid to the wolves if he's going to get happy feet and never learn how to go through progressions like all successful NFL QBs do. Build a young, dominant offensive line and you're not going to win a lot more games in 2015, which puts you in position once again to draft high. But in the long term, you're going to win a LOT more in 2016 and beyond.
