Can we please move this thread into the politics & religion forum? Thanks You're one of the few articulate people (over 5'7") around here; do you sense a pall over the actual game, once these political distractions fade out? Not enjoying the game so much these days...and that is unusual for me. tx This won't hurt the league much in the long run. Players won't stop protesting, the media will just stop covering it. The average viewer will simply lose interest in the narrative and change the channel whenever another "kneeling" story is run. The media will stop covering it as a result and the entire thing will blow over. The networks will go back to not televising the anthem other than for big games and this will be forgotten. I think CTE is the bigger elephant in the room and stands to ding the NFL much harder. That's where their focus should be placed. I honestly feel guilty at times w@tching this stuff. |

Up until last year I was insatiable when it came to watching NFL games.
Woody kicked me in the nuts. Kaepernick spit on me and then Goodell stabbed me in the heart. These Hot guy I'd like to blows and trust fund babies ruined the league they inherited.

Didn't see it.. and won't this weekend... Same here....was gonna go to Tampa to see the JETS. NOTHING..... that's what I'll spend on NFL this year. |

Hey man Woody is all green and white; like thousands of others I worked as his flunky for a few days during his initial years; met his fams...he loves Jets fans more than he loves the Jets; he's a-worryin about the BS and real stuff. During the 2001 wcpg I picked him up at his hotel, he was BS and killing it with uber jet Vic Green. Woody made me feel like a million bucks. in the colloquial sense |

Heard a black sports broadcaster/personality today say that the whole kneeling thing was ineffectual and stupid and then say that nothing will solve the "issue" until we have a real conversation, but that we will never have that real conversation because it will make white people uncomfortable. Serious question, anyone know what he's talking about? Because that conversation in all these race obsessed warriors is "everything is white peoples fault" |

Slavery existed almost everywhere in the world for thousands of years. White, brown, black, yellow and red people have all been enslaved. Whites enslaved blacks and blacks enslaved blacks. It existed in this country for a few hundred years and was brought here by Europeans. We fought a war to end it. But somehow all of this seems to go unacknowledged. And what specifically is still holding people back? Law enforcement? At one time we did have institutional racism in this country. Now it mainly exists on the personal level which will never be eradicated. As long as people walk this earth there will be bad people. Why is it that people from India and Asia can come to this country and have success relatively quickly? Statistically better than Europeans, Latin Americans, Africans, etc. India was ravaged by Europeans and is still a third-world country. But when given the opportunity they flourish. While people from Europe and elsewhere may take a couple of generations (like in the case of my family) or in the case of some others be stuck in poverty for generations. And how do race relations get worse after the first black president? Did white people, many of whom voted for him in the old blue wall, just decide to become racists? I think we need to take a look at how and where we get our information from. Our brains were not designed for the level of inundation we get from our smartphones and social media. And a lot of it is designed to be attractive and addicting. Online culture has played a role in this modern tribalization we are seeing. It is very easy to unfriend or unfollow someone and that is spilling over to how we treat people in real life. People need to go outside, talk to their neighbors. I think they will find out that they get along with most of the people they meet. |
