The most ineffectual protest in the history of protests. 1) They are dishonoring the very thing that gives them the right to protest. 2) The protest itself says nothing about what they are actually protesting. 3) The protest is alienating and angering people who actually otherwise agree with the real, not very obvious, subject of the protest. 4) If any of these guys are doing something more than taking a knee in support of their "cause", they are doing a piss poor job getting the word out. 5) The very things that would help them in their cause -- money, popularity, fame -- are being squandered by their ill-conceived protest. How about this instead. A bunch of them get together to create a public service announcement type ad -- if done right - they could get the NFL and/or Nike to pay to create and air it. It begins with a dark screen. A player in street clothes is slowly brought to light. The players street clothes are what you might see a kid wearing on an inner city street. The player should be someone who grew up in a bad area and has some relevant knowledge of the problem (i.e. police who assume you are up to no good because you are a young black man). He starts... My name is ________ . I grew up in _________. It was a tough neighborhood, and I'm not gonna lie to you, there were some pretty bad people in my neighborhood. But, you know what, there were, and still are, many good people, who were fighting for what many of you watching already have - a safe and secure place to live and raise your family. I have no doubt that many, many police officers are fine men and woman of all races trying to to a good job, but we've got a problem in this country. The problem is that there are police officers who assume that a young black man in the type of neighborhood I grew up in is up to no good, and that he's a bad kid just because of his skin color and where he happens to live. Some players in the NFL tried to bring attention to this issue, and sadly, it really became an issue of it's own. We'd like to take a step back and re-focus on what the real issue is.... [and then he could talk about whatever thing the NFL and NFLPA have come up with in this regard] It will need to mention for the inner city folks to not attack the cops as well. Over 80% of all assaults on police are by black inner city folks. It is the reason they exit the vehicle with their radar on and guard up. I think this covers it.

I think people assume cops are out there helping old ladies cross the street and get kittens out of trees. Every fucking day cops go into the line of fire of bad guys. Really really bad guys. It's not all donuts and coffee. When are idiots going to realize when cops go to work every day there is a chance they are going to get shot, stabbed, beat up- badly injured or killed. Or sued. Especially in some of the really bad areas. I'm surprised there aren't more shootings by police. Btw some cops in the South Bronx have decided it's not worth it. www.google.com/amp/nypost.com/2017/10/01/cops-backing-off-busts-in-south-bronx-to-avoid-lawsuits/amp/_

No thanks. And they wonder why cops aren't policing these neighborhoods. It's not worth the potential for a lawsuit. What I don't like is that rather than focus on real crime, they will harass law abiding citizens with summons, tickets, etc for nothing because it's easier than dealing with the hassle of busting criminals.

Its a situation where both parties have some sort of post-traumatic stress from either living in it or working in it every day. Its a cycle that feeds itself. And unfortunately there is a cruel irony to all of this. Less policing will result in these same people being worse off in their neighborhoods in the long run. P.S. Technically if you get a ticket it is because you werent abiding the law. Just sayin.

Haven't watched a game all year. Started doing that later last season when it was apparent the Jets as an organization didn't seem too concerned about the product being put on the field. Honestly, I do miss it a bit but not enough to solely dedicate blocks of time to it anymore. If it's on wherever I am, I'll watch, but I'm just not that invested anymore, and the antics of the league this season have made that decision more palatable.
tl:dr, NFL is meh.

Not showing the anthem is the TV networks version of not coming out of the lockeroom for the anthem. In 2017, showing the National Anthem on TV in America is considered controversial. Let that one sink in.

U can play it when cbs skips the national anthem to pump u up for the jets games. You can then watch episodes of lena dunhams show girls during half time. Homo. 😛
