Season 2 of the Podcast Serial is on Bergdahl, and interviews he gave to some guy. It's worth the listen and gives insight to his motives . Very bizarre guy who shouldn't have been in the military. Anyways they investigated whether soldiers actually died looking for him,and they found nothing. From what I recall, it was never a mission in of itself to go out and find him. Those who suposedly died looking had specific missions that had nothing to do with him, and if they were able to gather info on him, they did.
