Just saw a live story from a local DMV here on LI, lines from the DMV stretching for blocks as illegals line up for drivers licenses. Watching hard-working, citizens who have played by the rules their whole lives forced to wait with illegals in an obscene line makes my blood boil. And the media/leftists blame Trump for anti-illegal hatred.

Are they taking road tests? How are we just giving illegals driver's licenses? Seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

Will everyone’s rates go up now that illegals have drivers licaences? It’s total insanity. NY isn’t going down the drain, it’s already in the sewer.

Also, what percentage of these people are actually going to purchase insurance. TDS has now become a public health concern.

A piece I wrote about the above homicide; Maria Fuertes was not to be stopped. Though her neighbors and family worried about her, the 92 year old Queens resident felt well enough to take her daily late night walks to collect bottles and cans. It forced her to get out and the nickles added up. It kept her busy. She had no reason to fear for her safety because everyone knew her and the local 106th pct. cops, despite covering a huge geographical area in South Queens, were doing a pretty good job of keeping a lid on crime, or so they believed. What Maria didn't know was that on Nov. 27th, Reeaz Khan, 21 and an illegal alien, was arrested for assault and Criminal possession of a weapon. ICE filed a detainer, but due to the City's "Sanctuary City" policy, the NYPD is not made aware unless an actual conviction occurs. Opportunity to save a life or spare a victim....missed. Reeaz walked out a free man and a fragile 92 year old woman had her death warrant signed. She just didn't know it yet. On Jan. 6th she was thrown to the ground, sexually abused and left for dead on a frigid, snow-covered sidewalk by Khan, a man who never spent one second as a law-abiding citizen of this country, yet was granted "Sanctuary" and protected under a cynically deployed political stunt masked as compassion. This isn't the first, the tenth or even the hundredth time we had an opportunity to save a law-abiding citizen from becoming the victim of a criminal illegal alien had we simply allowed the Police and ICE to do their jobs. Yet men and women with armed security who live in mansions and walled compounds are letting us know...we and Maria dont matter. Their own virtue-signaling and selfish political expediency does. Maria Fuertes later died at Jamaica Hospital, her last conscious moments a dizzying flurry of violence, confusion, fear, and humiliating violation. Then, and only then..did Reeaz Khan become a priority, as the word's Sanctuary and compassion took on an ironic and sad connotation for Maria's grieving neighbors near 127th street. Khan was quickly identified and picked up by angry and heart-broken Detectives who knew they could have prevented this had they been allowed to do their jobs originally, unencumbered by politics and insulated, pandering pols with no skin in the game other than their progressive resumes. Maria Fuertes deserved better.

Are they taking road tests? How are we just giving illegals driver's licenses? Seems like a disaster waiting to happen. I was reading up on the topic, and illegals will still need to get a permit and pass a written and road test to get a license. So in that regard, its similar to any new driver getting a license - other than the obvious that they don't need an SSN. As for the auto insurance question, the law still stands that you need insurance to operate a vehicle. If they're caught, they'll get busted like any legal citizen driving without insurance. Now we can argue that they will just drive without insurance, but many or most of them are doing that today already. Playing devils advocate, at least with a drivers license they CAN get insurance, where without one, they can't. I wont be surprised if insurance companies blame rate increases on illegals getting licenses - its a convenient excuse that people will believe. Your credit rating and driving patterns will jack your rates up way faster than a bunch of illegals now having drivers licenses. And Im not a fan of the policy, but in Utah, where they've been able to get drivers licenses since '99, uninsured motorists went from 28% to 9%, and insurance rates went up at a lower rate than other states. Hit and run rates went down in California and Connecticut. And its absolutely why they have the RealID now. There will be two types of ID - the enhanced ID where you show more documentation, and a "standard" license for seniors and illegals and undocumented.

Only accidents have I have ever gotten into were with uninsured.
