I am very surprised there has been no discussion regarding are big need at the cornerback position. I've seen Trae Waynes and P.J. Williams as mid to late first round picks but after those two it seems opinions are very much mixed. Millner and McDougale are coming off injuries and Kyle Burnt Toast Wilson will be gone. So if the price was right, would you trade down to get the top corner in the draft? Or is there any solid corners that could still be on the board by the 2nd and 3rd rounds?

A big giant Fuck No to trading down in the first to draft a CB. The best corner in this draft is probably not even going to be on a lot teams draft boards. There are guys like Ladarius Gunther from Miami and Eric Rowe from Utah that can be had in the fourth round or fith round that could be OK, but I think the best way to address corner is through free agency this year.

I think CB is a need that has to be addressed in free agency - not the draft. This is not a good draft for CBs - and we already have a few young guys in the mix (Milliner, McDougle, Williams) we really need to add at least one, possibly two veterans to this group. If we draft another guy, that is just another question mark who will need time to develop.

Kevin Johnson who Lithfan brought up awhile back is also a good mid round CB. Also I know Peters has major issues, but idc. If he somehow drops to the 3rd or lower I'm probably taking him. He's an elite talent, and at that point is worth the risk for me. However, I agree that the best way to address our CB need is most likely through free agency.

If Cleveland was willing to give up the 12th and their second I'd at least be willing to listen. I have absolutely zero faith in Millner and McDougale so I'd like to at least try and take a stab for a corner somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd. The only corner I know of who will be free agent this year is Chris Harris out of Denver.

The only one would have been Peters, but he went off the deep end. With that said I wouldn't mind trading back a few spots if we could still grab Parker or take Clemmings combined with Prewitt and DGB/Hardy.

I guess my problem is I don't see any corners that great in free agency either. Walter Thurmond? Maybe as a nickel sure. Revis? I don't see that happening. Charles Tillman or Ike Taylor? The both of them are in their mid-30s.

no corners early if at all.
You can do everything in the draft... and to me, the secondary is in DESPERATE need of some veteran play and leadership. We've got heap of kids that need some established players to come in and show 'em how it's done
FA: CBs, FS, OLB and OG
DRAFT: WR, OT, RB, QB and LB

that said, I can't lie - I do really like Rollins and Peters, and to a lesser extend Gunther

Fuck that noise
We're set to have anywhere between $53-64 million in cap space depending on what we do with Harvin.
Sign a CB like Byron Maxwell or Chris Harris in FA.
This CB class is shit at the top. I'm not bypassing someone like Cooper, Winston, Gregory, Parker or Scherff just so we can trade down and take an average corner prospect like Trae fucking Waynes

Address CB in FA. Since Revis we have struck out big time with our CB draft picks. I don't care if 2 got injured. As they say, availability is a player's best ability. I am not opposed to drafting one in the mid rounds but would be upset if we took one with our top 2 picks this year. I just don't think many are worth a high pick this year either.
I hope Cooper is available for us but if he is not I would like to see us draft an OL in the first. Someone we can plug n play that doesn't need much developing b.c it has become very hard to develop OL with the new CBA. Scherff seems like a very safe pick coming out of Ferentz's program.

its irrational but the past three secondary draft picks have me conditioned to hate the idea. get one in FA, and for once, lets go offense, please.

Recent Jets history of drafting CBs in Round 1 includes Revis (excellent), Milliner (injured), and Wilson (huge underachiever). But past performance is no guarantee of future results, particularly when you have a new GM.
My preference is to trade back in Round 1 if all 3 of Cooper, Mariota and Winston are gone. I'd like to accumulate additional 2nd and 3rd round picks by moving back into the middle or second half of Round 1, and then go BPA at any position like CB, OLB, WR, RB or OLine. I might even say we take a shot on Brett Hundley at QB at the very end of Round 1, especially if we'd then have two picks in Round 2 and two in Round 3.

imo at this point it would be foolish for the jets to think they can go into the season with both mcdougal and milliner at 100%. one or the other is going to be injured in some fashion. milliner's achilles will have lasting effects. so the best course will be for the jets to get a solid corner or two in free agency and draft one. they need 2 simply because wilson will be gone and both milliner and macdougal won't be there 100%. can't say if walls or williams can counted on either. those guys seem more like good depth players.
