looking at the roster, I still think they'll come back down to earth, but who knows?

Can Bailey, Barzal and Lee all keep up a point per game pace? The goaltendings been solid, and the bottom six more or less pretty steady.

Haven't watched much of the Isles yet this year, but I did tune in for the 2nd and 3rd periods last night. That was fun. Nothing like a good beatdown of the Penguins to get me excited again.
Different feeling in the 3rd period -- even after the Malkin goal to cut it to 2, I did not have this feeling of impending doom that I have had in the past few seasons when protecting a lead in the 3rd.

Finally we have a team worth rooting for a win. It's amazing what a sweeping clean of the slate and bringing in proven winners helps for the fanbase and the franchise.

5 in a row?
I’m as thrilled as a pig in shit. But iffin I recall correctly, Isles were in first place about this same time last year for about 12 minutes until Columbus won their game. It was a steady downhill slide thereafter. I can’t get my hopes up yet this year.

I am enjoying this early season, but not getting carried away. Long long way to go. Pretty sure that last season started to fall apart on Dec/Jan.

I may be staying cautious in my optimism, but Newsday has no such qualms.

If I remember correctly things turned when de Haan went down for the year last season. Not getting too excited anyway its way too early for that.

Yeah, wayyyy too long a season to get overly excited. I like the signs they're showing - good coaching, solid system. I just have concerns about the overall talent level in the long run. Although they are built sort of Washington-esque, with a clear top six and a mix and match bottom six who are playing with energy and heart.

Looks like last years isles showed up last night. Played about 15 minutes according to Trotz. Didn’t see the game, but blew a 3-1 lead, and apparently lucky to get a point - should have been a MTL demolition of the isles.
