Seems like the cops are right on this one.

Riiight. So someone will check waze on the way into a bar, see a DWI checkpoint then make the decision to not drink and drive...or will they simply still get loaded and use the app to evade the Checkpoint? Either way, I can see why the cawps would complain and I can see why Goggle would be within their rights to tell them to go fuck themselves. Btw, I have Google Maps app in my phone and every time I try to use it, it shows my location as a mile and a half away and never adjusts even when I start driving so they can suck my cocks. How come cawps dont sit 100 yards from bars and just pick people off one at a time. I always wondered. They do that all the time in my area.

There's no big red flag on the map that say "DWI checkpoint". NYPD is using DWI/checkpoints as an example, because its an obviously emotionally charged issue that folks get behind. The reality is more likely that they dont want you knowing where the speedtraps, i.e. their revenue, are. You'd think they'd like that Waze users tag where cops have someone pulled over, so that people slow down/change lanes, for their safety. I know when I see that police icon on Waze, I just slow down and look around... never once have I thought to find an alternate route to avoid it.

I go down as saying if the police see someone driving erratically which would indicate they are impaired they should by all means stop that individual and determine if they are ok to drive. I am however, not in favor of DWI/DUI road blocks. I encountered one coming home late from work on a Friday night and got pulled into the "safety check lane." Immediately, there were flashlights shining in my back seat and questions about where I was going. I told them that I didn't see the relevance of the questions if they were checking vehicle safety nor was there anything unsafe regarding my vehicle in my back seat. They seemed miffed and after producing my registration and proof of insurance I was allowed to move on. I'm a law enforcement supporter, but it seemed very intrusive and focused on handing out DUI/DWIs. Bottom line, I'm ok with Waze.
