The main rallying cry is 'but but but Spike Lee hasn't won!' DO THE RIGHT THING was interesting in it's time - but his movies have always been and continue to be hot messes that look like they were 70-80% figured out. He's made 25+ films - can anyone name any iconic performances from any of them save for Denzel's from MALCOLM X? Spike has always been more interested in a) being Spike b) getting paid by Nike and c) being a celebrity than he has about challenging himself. I did not see his latest - but I long ago tuned him out. |
