Jason Myers
K, Seattle Seahawks
Seahawks agreed to terms with K Jason Myers, formerly of the Jets, on a four-year contract.
Myers spent last summer with the Seahawks before being cut in August. He latched on with the Jets and beat out Taylor Bertolet for the job. Myers went on to hit 33-of-36 field goals and 30-of-33 extra points en route to a Pro Bowl selection. His 91.7% success rate on field goals is nearly seven percentage points higher than his career average. Myers will replaces Sebastian Janikowski in Seattle and be paid as one of the league's premier kickers.

Had a career year, could be due to regress back to the mean. Guys getting a 4 yr, $15-16 M contract. They can get comparable results for less money, most likely.
Or if you want to spend that kind of coin, go sign Gostkowski.

Interesting statistics... not sure I give Lac Edwards all the credit, but 2016-2018, our kickers over-performed their career numbers.

Who needs FGs and extra points we're going all 6'es and 2 pt conversions this year!

You don’t pay kickers $4+ million a year unless it’s prime Adam Vinatieri. At least that’s sure as hell my philosophy.
Jason Myers was wildly inconsistent his entire career prior to last season. He’s also missed the most extra points of any kicker in the NFL since coming into the league.
People were freaking out last year too when we let Catanzaro walk.
Seems like Brant Boyer can draw out the best in these guys.

Screw him. He's lucky we had some doofus calling plays, he had career year because we coudln't score a TD in the red zone.

Could be... time will tell. But the Jets have had success bringing guys in at mid-level money. People are bitching about over-paying for players, and giving a one-year wonder at kicker a $4M a year contract for 4 years is a lot. I look at kickers like relievers/closers in baseball. Unless they're the very best, they can be up and down, year to year. Id rather go shorter term, cheaper, and rely on the team evaluating kickers, which is one of the few things they've done well with the last few years. Or if you're going to spend that kind of money, you sign a top guy who's done it year after year, like a Gostkowski.

Should have locked him up. Our dumpster diving for kickers was on display yesterday, and all season.
