Here you have it! Scientists have captured a photo of a black hole for the first time in history. www.pennlive.com/news/2019/04/black-hole-photos-scientists-share-first-image-taken-from-55-million-lightyears-away.htmlThis particular black hole sits are the center of a galaxy known as Messier 87, 55 million light years from Earth. It is billions of times more massive than the sun. The photo shows the black hole’s silhouette, surrounded by a bright ring. According to NASA, a black hole is “a great amount of matter packed into a very small area — think of a star ten times more massive than the Sun squeezed into a sphere approximately the diameter of New York City. The result is a gravitational field so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape." “Here it is,” Sheperd Doeleman, a Harvard astronomer and project director of the EHT, said as he revealed the image at the event held by the National Science Foundation to unveil the image. “This is the strongest evidence that we have to date for the existence of black holes.”
