I saw most of Lawrence Taylor's career, missed the tail end because I joined the Army. I knew that I was watching one of the best to ever play the game though, and appreciated him while he was playing.
Two that come to mind off the top of my head are JJ Watt and Barry Sanders. Ive seen Watt dominate games and Sanders was the most electrifying offensive player I ever saw. I wish i had seen their entire careers.
Who ya got?

bo jackson. not what i was unable to see, but what that guy was unable to continue to do because of his freak injury in football
that guy was mikkey mantle and jim brown combined; we baseball fans AND football fans were robbed of seeing a ONCE IN FOREVER BEST EVER stud DOMINATE in TWO professional sports\
seriously, we were robbed. and so was bo. but he knows.

I think it was on the NFL's Top 100, Bellichick said LT was the smartest player he ever coached which obviously means a lot. I always saw him as just an exceptional athlete but he didn't come off as the football geek.

Would have loved to see Joe Willie in his prime. Got to see him live 1 time in 1976 when the Jets played a pre season game in St Louis when I was 8.

No doubt, Namath. There's a lot of stuff on the Internet, but living in the Midwest you didn't get to see him a lot. I had to depend on the newspaper and Monday Night Football half time highlights. Saw him beat the Bears in Chicago once, saw a couple exhibition games in St. Louis where he played sparingly.

Saw Bo hit 3 HR's at Yankee stadium in one game. My brother snagged tix on the Royals dugout (1990?). He was about as impressive looking as a human being could be in uniform. Think he got hurt too...on a Deion Sanders inside the parker the same game. Those were some dark days for Yankee fans, lol.

I saw him at Shea in the early 70's, his arm was still there but he was really starting to get beat up and immobile. I was a kid and just remember the adults (whom I now know were hammered, lol) yelling "throw the bomb, Joe, throw the bomb" all the time.

Ty Cobb. Possibly the first sports superstar in the country.
Apparently got a bad rap for a lot of myths along with that shit "Cobb" movie/hit piece.
On the field pure excitement every time he put the ball in play.
Now I gotta go re-read Ty Cobb: A Terrible Beauty again. Good read if you get a chance.
