Sam is still not the Problem BUT so long as Gase is here, his career isn't going anywhere. Hearing some rumors about the Cowboys being interested in a trade with us for Sam, though... Darnold to cowboys rumors heating up but guessing the moat theyd get is a 2nd rounder. Be mildly surprised if it happens...or maybe just dont care.
I actually do care but only that I'm hopeful they do that deal so Sam is OUT of this DUMP.

I have officially given up on Sam. Genuinely like the kid, and think he got a raw deal in terms of coaching and talent around him, but still makes glaring mistakes, misreads, inaccuracies, Sanchez like INT’s...I also think he’ll prolly be a good starter on a different team.

So you're saying he sucks yet can still be a good starter on a different team?
He can't both suck AND be good..unless we're talking about a woman on Brazzers or something.
I don't think he sucks but I do think he needs a change of scenery(and franchise) NOW.
Get this young man away from this horseshit situation so he can finally excel.

I’m saying he’s not the savior I thought he would be and like you said I think he needs a change in scenery. With better coaching and players I think he can be better than he is today but not elite/franchise type QB.

See, this is the problem.
Some are thinking that a QB that is drafted is somehow going to be the Savior of a franchise that can't get out of its own way due to idiotic GM'ing, Ownership, and Coaching.... (3 things a QB is not)
People forget these are just QB's. Not Miracle Workers.
I never thought Sam would be the "savior".
I did (and still do) think he'll be a very good QB in this league.
But what's holding him back is this pathetic franchise and I feel that ANY QB that comes in (even Trevor Lawrence) won't fix the Jets issues but may end up becoming one of them like Sam did.

And these very scumbags are coming with a "vaccine" for the flu. Hilarious. No thanks, they are a total blunder and the buttfumble is a perfect metaphor for everything these assholes touch. Fuck you J&J You should rebrand your company to Dick&Butt

These California QBs just don't really seem to have what it takes During Darnold's Sophomore year when he was attracting a lot of attention I eluded to the same thing, especially about USC QBs, attempting to make the point they get surrounded with so many quality players, they always look better than they really are. Hence, they get a lot of press and hyped over what their skill sets actually are, because they have so may NFL caliber players around them. Thinking back, Darnold had a good, but not great Junior year before he came out in the draft. I am by no means a visionary, but there's a post on this forum, by me eluding to that point. That being said, I'd really like to see Darnold turn it around so the Jets can use the picks they get from this shitty season, along with other stockpiled picks and cap money, to surround him with skilled players, primarily a competent O line. However, I'm beginning to doubt he can turn it around. He looks close to being broken, at least as a Jets QB. Lets hope not. If Lawrence is there, he'd be tough to pass on. I do not want the Justin Fields from Ohio State as a consolation prize.

So, Im slightly confused by some comments here. Did Sam never have it, tricked everyone and his coaches didnt suck? Or, did Sam have it, didnt trick anyone, his coaches just butt fucked his career to oblivion. OR...Sam fooled everyone, his coaches were not good, they all just suck?

I vote for the bolded (and capitalized).
There is no way in hell that Sam can be THIS bad.
cgjet did bring up a good point regarding being surrounded by quality players but here's the rub :
As a young QB (or any QB for that matter), DON'T YOU NEED QUALITY PLAYERS SURROUNDING YOU TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE FIRST PLACE?
It's like the Chicken and the Egg argument.
What comes first? A QB's ability or the Talent that surrounds him?
This is why I can't help but dread what will happen should the Jets get Trevor Lawrence.
People like Raoul would again think he's the Savior....and then when this fucking franchise destroys HIS career, then what?

I think Sam will be WAAAAY better than just a rich-man's Ryan Tannehill who is nothing more than a JourneyMan QB at this point of his career.
He's still a Franchise QB.
He just needs a REAL FRANCHISE.

Pretty sure Sam with Bruce Arians, Sean Payton, Frank Reich or any other competent NFL caliber Head Coach would be doing just fine.
