My favorite part of the whole article......it speaks to the fact that he has ALWAYS been a leader....captain on the team, determined to make it, went undrafted but got picked up and played in the league long enough to get a ring. Its funny, the best players don't always make the best coaches. Its always the guys that weren't the superstars of their team but were hard working and learned the nuances of the game and had leadership skills that are more natural fits for coaching. The main reasons that the superstars don't always make it as coaches is because they cant teach people to do what they did. It came easy to them and not so much for everyone else. He wasn't my first choice but I'm warming up to him...................FAST

the talking heads are already naysaying. serby's column is equating the jets taking bowles over quinn as the same as when they took obrien over marino. his other comparisons aren't so valid and even the obrien over marino pick has been drastically over rated (what the talking heads fail to say is obrien had walton as his coach and the oline wasn't good enough to protect him. and how many more superbowls did marino win anyway?). i guess it's expected. the talking heads in new york aren't happy ulness they have something to complain about. someone needs to shove serby into a locker again. That's really scraping the bottom of the barrel. All of the national media has had nothing but praise for this move!

And the only people who aren't giving us credit is some of our own media(Serby). Gee, how surprising.

Says you. Once you stop thinking of Chan Gailey as a FAILED *HEAD COACH* and start thinking him as an OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR(where he's actually been successful), you'd feel at least a bit better about things.

Multiple sites gave as an "A" for the hire. -crossing fingers- French sites don't count.
