Do the Jets take him? Is he the real deal.

12 months from now Sam is going to want - what - 30M contract and 3-4 years at least.
If he walks, then we are back in the draft next year, looking for a QB. I think the odds are much better suddenly that we draft at 2.

The way Sam is playing he isnt worth half of that think after seeing this if Fields has a good outing the 11th the Jets could take Fields dont think Douglas will risk his career trying to fix Darnold rumors are Douglas will have full control if this thing blows up on him he screwed his whole career.

No. You take the OT that draws Jonathan Ogden comparisons. Run over anyone.

Def. the most incredible College game I've seen this year. Kid is a warrior. I'm still obsessed how we'll protect ANY QB (besides having Becton), so Fields is a moot point as a pick as much as I am loving him tonight. The Jets have been a conga-line of chewed up potential at QB. Adding more fodder to the dance line is just continuing the carnage.

Lawrence may be 6’6” but he’s no Big Ben. He goes down pretty easy.

Well see I dont disagree with you dont think Douglas will risk his career on a QB that is regressing in year 3 Douglas is got 3 years to turn it around Darnold will want 30 million a year or turns out to be bad the Jets will be forced to get a QB next year pick that high with 2 potential game changing QBs think Darnold is a goner.

But it’s going to be someone else - I can’t see Darnold earning a new NYJ contract. So we’d be looking at Mariotta or similar. I’ll take lottery ticket I think, at this point.

Take Sewell 'cause he's not going past #3.
Becton on one side....Sewell on the other.....
That's going to be a 2-headed monster(literally) for at least 10 years....opening up more holes than found in a brothel for Running backs to run through....giving whomever we have at QB even more time to throw the ball instead of running for their lives.
Joe D was an OL-man himself so I'm sure he recognizes the importance of an effective O-Line.
The chance to get *The BEST* in the draft at that position is something he may not ignore.
(or maybe he will and gets mesmerized by what Fields did? I don't know.)

The Jets have been a conga-line of chewed up potential at QB. Adding more fodder to the dance line is just continuing the carnage. We still have another 1st rounder and the 34th overall. We can address the Oline in the draft even if we take a QB 2nd overall.

Those thinking we can address the OL later on in the draft : None of the O-linemen are a sure bet like Sewell is.That is the issue. I don't know if Ogden is what Sewell will turn out to be but I do know that having Becton and Him on either side will be most beneficial for this team that hasn't addressed the O-Line properly for eons.
EDIT : One more thing I want to add.
It wasn't that long ago prior to this insane performance, that Fields was just mediocre-to-terrible against 14th ranked Northwestern. Now all of a sudden, he has the game of his life and he's Trevor Lawrence Part 2?
I don't know, man... 32Green brought up a valid point regarding any QB coming here being chewed up.
I hope Joe D does his due diligence here and makes absolutely CERTAIN that whatever choice he makes is the right one.

One game does not a quarterback make. Good or bad.

You're correct.
I was just referring back to when Fields struggled and many here pointed that out....and now many of those same people here are on his tip.
