So I finished up the Flight 2022 series and thought it was great. Afterwards, I took a moment and really tried to objectively look at things and think on what this team may bring. I'm not trying to come up with a record prediction, only a view of how they may perform as a team.
Offense almost always gets my attention over defense (I'd say that's the case for most), but I think in this instance, the defensive side of the ball is where we will see the biggest leap. I feel Mosley and Williams had solid years, but were kind of limited of being a no-man's land due to the lack of impact players in front and behind them. With Lawson coming back, coupled with the new additions of Johnson and Clemons, the front is greatly improved. Anything from QW, Solomon Thomas, and Shepherd will likely come from those additions, too. The back end was set to take another step up already as the group as a whole showed some promise. The addition of Sauce and Whitehead will only help in making that step appear bigger. Those two factors should really free up the LBs to freelance a lot more; Mosley, Williams, and Martin are going to be flying around the field making plays I think. That's where we are going to see the biggest difference overall. I'm REALLY excited about the potential for this defense.
As for the offense, it really is all about Wilson and where his head is at. The WR and RB room has been improved significantly, but it usually takes both position groups a while to get up to speed with the finer points of the game, typically. For Wilson, this is compounded as he isn't the cleanest route runner (something WRs struggle with coming in), and Hall isn't particularly good at pass protection (also the typical knock for RBs coming in). The TE room is fantastic, at least relative to how abysmal it's been for decades. OL is a close second to Wilson in make/break. If Becton (and Fant) come back healthy and motivated, it's a terrific group. If not, there still remain concerns. I want to be excited about the offense, but I have trepidations. I believe in Wilson as a talent (bigly), but who knows if he is ready to take that next step mentally.
Anyway, those are my streams of thought. Looking forward to discussing more as the off-season progresses. Boner pants: ENGAGED!

Add in DJ Reed in the secondary and hopefully big second years from Moore, Wilson and Carter and I am hoping to see a leap forward. If Mims can do anything it will be a plus too. Hell even special teams with a real kicker in Zuerlein could be a difference maker. I am cautiously optimistic this year. Already have tickets to go to Pittsburg Week 4. Driving out but flying will probably be cheaper by then. I think the most important thing on this, or any team, is health and conditioning. If players aren't on the field it does matter what their potential is.

It all comes down to Zach and whether or not he makes that leap.
I want to be enthusiastic but when I take a look at the schedule I think 4-6 wins if Zach doesnt improve. Even if he does make the leap I think our schedule is so hard that 6-8 might be it. I like the supporting cast he has. He has a better supporting cast than Sanchez or Darnold. I also think he has way better coaching than they did too. Honeymoon over. Mahomes, Jackson, Herbert, Burrow. These guys produced in their second year. Wilson was drafted #2 overall. He wasnt some project.
I think the defense will be better just by virtue of being in Year 2 of the system. One thing I dont like is the pitch counts that have been floated around. I like keeping guys fresh but not all players are equal. We need our best guys out there on goal line, on third down. We got murdered on 3rd down last year. My wild card is Quincy Williams. LB is considered our thinnest group on the roster. He has all the physical talent but struggled with the playbook and assignments. I think being in the 2nd year, getting an entire TC and continued work with Mosely will do wonders for him. Also a huge year for his brother. The last of our IDL binges in the first round of yesteryear. Hasnt lived up to his draft position. He has better supporting cast and will be playing his natural position now with JFM next to him to keep IOL honest in their blocking. Double digit sacks are a must.
Love what I have seen out of Sauce thus far. All of the reviews coming out of OTAs and mini camp have been great.
I just want something to root for. I hate putting a number on expectations especially since our schedule is so hard. I think its one of those things that we will know based on what we see. I want to see improvement. See growth. Contrary to what people think turnarounds happen quite quickly in the NFL nowadays. The 3 year rebuilds arent something we should be settling for.
As for Flight 2022 I think it was Emmy worthy. We dont need Hard Knocks. Our production staff is every bit as good. Kudos to the Jets bc they doing a really great job from a content creation standpoint with the various podcasts and shows. Top notch stuff.

Top notch stuff. Agree with what everyone is saying, especially about the most important factor being Zach’s development. I’m cautiously optimistic that he makes a year 2 leap given that he has another year in the same system, has put on weight and looks almost like an adult QB and not a skinny mini-elf, and also has the best supporting cast of playmakers - WRs, TEs, and RBs, that the jets have had in a very long time. I want to see an exciting, fun, young dynamic team that has wins the games they should (Lions, Bears, Jags, Seattle, even Pitt and the Browns without Watson) and plays the good teams tough and keeps up with them - winning their fair share of those games too (Ravens, Packers, Vikes, Denver). While I’m not setting a number of games they should win, there’s no reason they can’t win 11 or 12 games this year if Zach improves and the D we should have. Really Excited for the season. First time in a long time. Like 10 years. Haven’t watched the flight 2022, but will def watch it soon.

My biggest 2 concerns are Zach and the DC. Zach is gonna be what he's gonna be but i have some serious questions about the DC. Yeah we didn't have much talent but that guy rarely made adjustments and couldn't figure out how to put our best CB on the other teams best WR.
Saleh needs to step in and straighten this guy out if he continues to fuck up. We already did this shit with Bowles letting his DC shit the bed.
