He seems to be getting the guys he wants and they are jumping at the chance to join him.

Always a good sign when trusted sidekicks join the fray. I always loved the Rex/Pettine axis and we were never the same after Pet left. You mean Caldwell is gonna go around behind Bowles back and leak info to Mehta too. What?!

With all the negatives that come with the NYJ coaching job, i.e., the overly critical media, intense spotlight on every move/call/decision, writers making up stories just to have something to write, there are just as many positives. You're on the biggest stage in the country and if the cards fall correctly, the head coach is beloved, and assistant coaches have expanded opportunities. Personally, I admire guys who do not back away from things, and take the easy way out. I think we have a smart GM and, a tough/smart HC. What we should start seeing now is this combination attract talent which should turn the franchise around fairly quickly. That, and about $50M in cap space, most of which the Jets have to spend.

Let's hope so. Greatness has to start somewhere. Why not right here, right now?

Any word on Miami's DL coach Kacey Rodgers, has he been hired yet? His wiki page lists him as the Jets DC.

Whens the last time we had an assistant HC? What exactly does that entail vs HC or DC/OC?

Whens the last time we had an assistant HC? What exactly does that entail vs HC or DC/OC? Anthony Lynn was the assistant HC under Rex. Yeah...let that sink in.

It's going to be very interesting to see how the Jets coaching staff shapes up. We might need a thread to track all the additions that are confirmed because I'm hearing lots of rumors with few confirms at this point.

Whens the last time we had an assistant HC? What exactly does that entail vs HC or DC/OC? Prior to Anthony Lynn last year I thnk Bill Callahan was assistant HC the two AFCCG seasons. i think it's actually a mechanism to get someone on staff who's already contracted to another team but would otherwise be making a sideways move...so if you already have a DC in place you can't offer a LB coach the promotion to DC therefor his team has no obligation to consider a request to speak to him.I could be wrong mind you....either way good to see he has one of his guys coming with him.
