The Jets signed Martin to a three-year deal earlier this offseason, but the veteran EDGE rusher has been buried on the depth chart for most of the season. Through eight games, Martin has just three tackles and 1.5 sacks and has registered 15 career sacks since entering the league in 2018. Martin likely becomes the replacement for Bradley Chubb, who the Broncos shipped to Miami prior to Tuesday's trade deadline. The Broncos are also giving up a 2024 fourth-round pick in exchange for a 2024 fifth-round pick.....

Signed him for 3 years at $13.5M with a $3.45M signing bonus and $6M guaranteed. Clears a little cash for later on.

Actually, I may be wrong about clearing payroll. I read an article that the purpose of the trade is to get Bryce Huff more playing time.
